Fantastic Four’s Kate Mara Addresses If She And Husband/Costar Jamie Bell Will Watch The Fantastic Four: First Steps

Former Invisible Woman actor Kate Mara reveals whether she and husband Jamie Bell, who played the Thing, will watch the MCU’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps ten years after both actors starred in Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four. Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives late in the Multiverse Saga, kicking off the MCU’s Phase 6. It also comes almost exactly a decade after Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four. Although both movies take place in timelines separate from the MCU’s main universe, the upcoming FF reboot is an official part of Marvel Studios’ franchise.

In an interview with THR, Kate Mara addresses The Fantastic Four: First Steps, describing it as “totally different” than Josh Trank’s 2015 Fantastic Four, where she and her husband Jamie Bell starred as Sue Storm a.k.a. Invisible Woman and Ben Grimm a.k.a. the Thing, respectively. Mara says she and her family are interested in watching the MCU’s reboot and praises the cast, especially Reed Richards actor Pedro Pascal. Read Mara’s comments below:

“I love going to the movies. It’s my favorite thing to do, especially with my husband Jamie [Bell] and our kids. We have an 11-year-old. So I’m sure we’ll go, especially for a movie like that where you want to see it on a big screen with an audience and popcorn. Absolutely. It’s totally different than ours, so why not? I really love the cast. I love Pedro Pascal. Yeah, I would totally see the new Marvel.”

What Kate Mara’s Fantastic Four Comments Mean For The MCU Movie

The MCU’s Fantastic Four Are Now Marvel’s Official First Family

Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four had a brilliant cast and a bold take on Marvel’s First Family. However, several problems and controversies behind the scenes cast a shadow on the 2015 movie, which didn’t capture audiences or critics. Fox planned a crossover with the X-Men franchise, but all follow-ups to Fantastic Four were canceled immediately after its release, and Fox’s X-Men franchise came to an end not long afterward. The 2015 Fantastic Four cast moved on from Marvel, leaving the door open for a complete reboot of the property in the MCU.

Our Take On Kate Mara’s Fantastic Four Comments

The MCU’s Fantastic Four Have A Bright Future Ahead Of Them

Unfortunately, audiences may never see the 2015 Fantastic Four cast reach their full potential, but their movie’s disappointing release allowed the MCU’s reboot of the team to take shape ten years later. The Fantastic Four: First Steps also has an extraordinary cast, with Vanessa Kirby taking up the Invisible Woman role from Kate Mara and Ebon Moss-Bachrach taking up the Thing role from Jamie Bell.

Pedro Pascal replaces Miles Teller as Mister Fantastic, and Joseph Quinn replaces Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch. The Fantastic Four: First Steps probably won’t introduce Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom (played by Toby Kebbell in 2015), but it will feature Ralph Ineson’s Galactus and Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer.

While The Fantastic Four: First Steps presents the MCU’s main version of the team, previous iterations of the Fantastic Four might still be able to return. Chris Evans reprised his Human Torch role in a ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine cameo appearance, and John Krasinski — who never played Reed Richards before but was a fan-favorite candidate for the role — appeared as a member of the multiversal Illuminati in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Miles Teller’s Reed Richards, Kate Mara’s Sue Storm, Jamie Bell’s Ben Grimm, and Michael B. Jordan’s Johnny Storm could theoretically appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
