After Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Cruise is not going to stop collaborating with Christopher McQuarrie. McQuarrie directed Cruise in the last four Mission: Impossible movies, as well as in 2012’s Jack Reacher. Even though a sequel to 2014’s Edge of Tomorrow hasn’t been officially confirmed, it has been previously reported that it is in development. Therefore, while an official announcement hasn’t yet been made, a script for an Edge of Tomorrow sequel is definitely being worked on. If this script lives up to the story of the critically acclaimed first film, then it’s likely that Warner Bros. will officially greenlight the sequel.

According to Doug Liman, who directed Edge of Tomorrow, Warner Bros. is “constantly” asking about when the sequel will happen. In 2024, Cruise signed a significant deal with Warner Bros. which ensures that he will make both original and franchise movies with the studio in the coming years. Therefore, it seems like all the pieces are finally in place for Edge of Tomorrow 2 to be officially confirmed and for development to move forward.

Deeper Will Take Cruise Deep Into The Ocean

In addition to McQuarrie, it also seems like Cruise will team up with Liman on several movies in the coming years. In addition to the potential Edge of Tomorrow sequel, Cruise will also film a supernatural thriller movie тιтled Deeper. According to ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Cruise will reportedly play a disgraced astronaut in Deeper who discovers a dangerous force while on a deep dive in a previously unexplored trench.

Unlike Cruise’s aforementioned collaboration with Iñárritu, Deeper will definitely require a lot of stunts. Much of the film will seemingly be filmed underwater, and Cruise has already started diving training with Ana de Armas, who will reportedly star in the movie alongside him. The biggest obstacle Deeper is currently facing is its budget, which will be around $200 million, but Cruise is apparently determined to shoot the film very soon.
