Hugh Jackman Addresses Whether He’ll Return As Wolverine In Avengers: Doomsday

Long-time Marvel star Hugh Jackman is asked whether Wolverine will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Doomsday. The MCU is about to enter Phase 6 this summer with the arrival of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but 2026 will finally see the return of the Avengers. After it was revealed during Marvel Studios’ surprise announcement live stream that several X-Men actors are reprising their roles in Avengers: Doomsday, many have been wondering if Jackman’s Wolverine will be sharing the screen with them again.

During his appearance on The View, Jackman was asked by Sunny Hostin if he could say anything about the rumors that Wolverine will be in Avengers: Doomsday, with the film currently in production. However, Jackman had a very cryptic response, as he shared the following about whether fans will be seeing Wolverine in Avengers: Doomsday:

I really can’t say much, except when you say ‘appear’, [it’s] more like dominate and destroy every other character—I’m kidding. I really have nothing to add, and if I did, I would find a really cool way to not say it, but I actually have nothing to add.

What Hugh Jackman’s Avengers: Doomsday Comments Mean

For anyone who has followed the MCU, it has been well established that actors constantly have to keep things under wraps when it comes to major projects like the Avengers movies. With someone like Jackman, who plays one of the most iconic X-Men characters of all time, it’s no surprise that his latest comments are very cryptic, given the larger scope of the Avengers: Doomsday cast. However, with that in mind, Jackman’s response on The View makes it seem very obvious that he knows more than he is allowed to share.

Given how Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has teased more Avengers: Doomsday casting news is on the way, it would not be shocking if Jackman’s Wolverine is one of the many surprises they have coming up. From Jackman’s Wolverine legacy alone to the mᴀssive success behind ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine, it would be more of a surprise if the actor didn’t appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Given how many X-Men stars have already been announced for Avengers: Doomsday, not having Wolverine there would be a huge waste, and it would be out of character for Marvel Studios not to stage that reunion.

Our Take On Hugh Jackman’s Avengers: Doomsday Comments

Knowing that more Avengers: Doomsday cast members are being revealed at some point, Jackman’s comments definitely come off as him not being allowed to share what is bound to be a poorly kept secret. Since Wolverine is one of the many missing powerful Marvel heroes in the Avengers: Doomsday cast, it feels like a safe bet that Jackman will be factored into the film, given the large threat that Doctor Doom will present to the whole multiverse. Hopefully, whether it’s at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con or a future event, the world will ideally know before 2025 is over if Jackman’s Wolverine is part of Avengers: Doomsday.
