Alan Ritchson’s movie War Machine has now been hyped by his co-star. The action sci-fi thriller follows the recruits at a special ops boot camp who come face to face with an extraterrestrial threat. The movie is directed by Patrick Hughes, who co-wrote the script with James Beaufort. In addition to Ritchson, War Machine‘s leading cast includes Dennis Quaid, Esai Morales, Jai Courtney, Daniel Weber, Jack Patten, and Matt Testro. The action movie is being produced by Netflix and is expected to release on that platform.
Per Movie Web, Courtney hypes up the new movie, War Machine. The actor explained that the movie is “kind of high concept” and “really a survival thriller.” As for its quality, he says that he has been “hearing really great things” and “can’t wait to see what they did” with the final product. Check out the full quote from Courtney below:
“I’m hearing really great things I think people are really excited about, I mean, it’s, you know, kind of high concept, you know, it’s really a survival thriller. And, I mean, look, I’m as curious as you. I can’t wait to see what they did, but it was awesome to go down and shoot a film of that scale in Australia. And I think what Patrick Hughes is trying to do there, and bringing those kind of blockbuster-esque, you know, high-concept action films, into the Aussie industries, is really, is really cool.”
What This Means For War Machine
Another Star Recently Praised The Movie
The most recent quote also gives a sense of the movie’s scale, calling it “blockbuster-esque.” Released directly for streaming, Netflix films do not reap the benefit of becoming true “blockbuster” movies since they are not given box office numbers (save the rare times that a Netflix film gets limited theatrical release). That said, the platform often still commits to making large-scale projects, and it seems like War Machine is no exception. With the movie’s high-caliber cast, it is no surprise that Netflix might be sinking a lot of resources into this one, which could create a higher-quality final product.
Our Take On This War Machine Statement
This Movie Is A Big Deal For Alan Ritchson
All this hype for War Machine is great news for Ritchson. In an interview with Wired earlier this year, he even said that War Machine is “gonna be a monster” and the “coolest thing” Netflix has ever made. While he plays the lead role in Reacher, one of the biggest streaming TV shows out there, Ritchson has yet to make a significant splash on Netflix. If War Machine goes on to be as big as the early reports are saying, it could help solidify him as a cross-platform star to watch out for.

Ritchson was previously in one episode of the Netflix series Black Mirror.
