Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Surprises Tom Hiddleston’s Loki To Take His Powers In Avengers: Doomsday Art

New Avengers: Doomsday art pits Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom against Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. When Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast was announced by Marvel, it was revealed that a lot of important players from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Fox’s original X-Men franchise would be coming back. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also confirmed that Downey’s Doctor Doom will fight the original X-Men, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and more superhero teams. While Loki is not currently a member of any of those teams, he should play a vital role in the events of Avengers: Doomsday, with Doctor Doom after him.

The Avengers: Doomsday art has Doctor Doom in his full comic book-accurate suit standing behind Loki, who is on the throne he was last seen in Loki season 2’s finale and wearing the modernized version of the character’s classic Marvel Comics costume. While the two are not fighting in the Avengers: Doomsday art, it is clear what will happen, given how Loki has the kind of power that Doctor Doom should be looking for in the upcoming MCU movie.

What The Doctor Doom & Loki Avengers: Doomsday Art Means

The Characters Should Interact In A Key Way In The MCU Movie

Avengers: Doomsday is set up to be a mᴀssive entry for the MCU. At this moment, Marvel has not revealed any key details regarding its plot, other than the characters who will appear in the film and that it connects to 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars in some way. However, just like the Avengers: Doomsday art suggests, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki meeting seems inevitable. Victor von Doom will be the main villain of the next two Avengers movies, and if he wants to control the multiverse, then Loki will be in his way.

Disney+’s Loki season 2 ended with the тιтle character becoming the MCU’s God of Stories. What this means is that Hiddleston’s Loki has become the protector of the multiverse, looking after his friends and every other character by allowing multiversal branches to grow instead of pruning them like the TVA did under He Who Remains. With the multiverse being key to the next two Avengers movies and Doctor Doom needing the power he got from the Beyonders in the comics to become God Emperor Doom and create Battleworld, stealing Loki’s multiversal powers seems like the perfect plan for the villain.

Our Take On The Doctor Doom & Loki Avengers: Doomsday Art

Tom Hiddleston’s MCU Hero Better Watch Out For Doctor Doom

doctor doom looking incredibly powerful

While the Avengers: Doomsday art has a more comedic tone than the MCU movie should have, I believe that it is accurate when it comes to Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom being after Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. There is simply not enough time to debut Victor von Doom, use all the characters confirmed for the movie and any other possible MCU players, and also introduce the concept of the Beyonders. As such, with Loki being the protector of the multiverse, Marvel should streamline the story and have Doctor Doom try to steal his powers, making Avengers: Doomsday epic.
