Tom Cruise is hyping up his next movie, which will be helmed by an Oscar-winning director. This year, his biggest project is Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which comes out in theaters May 23. This Iñárritu movie does not yet have a тιтle, but it was announced in February 2024. As Cruise mentions, Iñárritu is the Oscar-winning director behind The Revenant as well as Birdman. The film’s full plot details have not yet been revealed, but it is reportedly about an action comedy wherein the most powerful man in the world causes a major disaster and then has to prove that he is actually humanity’s savior. In addition to Cruise, the film features a leading cast including Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Emma D’Arcy, Michael Stuhlbarg, Sophie Wilde, and Sandra Hüller.

Cruise’s announcement about the movie did not include a release date reveal, but the film’s completion is nonetheless a step in the right direction for the film. After having a high-profile release this year, it would be in Cruise’s interest to continue that momentum into 2026.
