Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s New Monster Dinosaur Has Already Accomplished What The Previous Hybrids Failed To Do

I’m hopeful that the Distortus rex in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth will be much scarier than the franchise’s other hybrid dinosaurs. Since the previous Jurᴀssic World movies received mixed receptions from audiences and critics, the upcoming Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is meant to start a new era for the franchise. However, some aspects of the last few movies, such as hybrid dinosaurs, will still be present in the upcoming film. Ahead of the movie’s release, it has been confirmed that there will be several hybrid dinosaurs in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth.

In the film, Scarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennett and her team will sneak onto the island which was the testing facility for the original Jurᴀssic Park to retrieve DNA from different dinosaurs. Based on this premise and the trailers for the film, it is clear that there will be a lot of dinosaurs in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth. The characters likely won’t intend to extract DNA from the D-rex, but it is clear that it will terrorize them in the movie. This is exciting, especially since Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s D-rex looks much scarier than the franchise’s other hybrid dinosaurs.

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s D-Rex Already Looks Scary Thanks To Its Incredible Design

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s D-Rex Has A Unique Design

The D-rex in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth doesn’t look like any other dinosaur in the long-running franchise. In many ways, the D-rex looks more like a creature out of a monster movie, rather than a prehistoric dinosaur. This makes complete sense when considering the design inspirations for the D-rex. Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s mysterious hybrid dinosaur’s design was inspired by the Rancor in Star Wars and the Xenomorph in Alien. The Rancor inspiration, in particular, shouldn’t come as a surprise since Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s director also helmed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Additionally, Gareth Edwards directed 2014’s Godzilla, which started the Monsterverse. Because of this, it is clear that Edwards has an eye for designing terrifying monsters. While some fans have argued that Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s D-rex doesn’t look enough like a dinosaur, I think this is actually a good thing since it will easily differentiate itself from the franchise’s other hybrid dinosaurs. Plus, this isn’t a strong argument against the D-rex since it definitely looks scarier than previous hybrid dinosaurs.

Jurᴀssic World’s Other Hybrid Dinosaurs Weren’t Very Scary

Jurᴀssic World & Jurᴀssic World: Fallen Kingdom Included Hybrid Dinosaurs

The inclusion of a hybrid dinosaur in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth shouldn’t be a major surprise since other recent movies in the franchise have also featured several hybrids. Most notably, Jurᴀssic World introduced the Indominus rex and its sequel, Jurᴀssic World: Fallen Kingdom, featured the Indoraptor. These two dinosaurs served as the main threat in their respective films, but in all honesty, they were never that scary.

The Indominus rex is a hybrid of several different species of dinosaurs, but basically looks like a Tyrannosaurus rex with a few extra sharp horns on its body. Meanwhile, the Indoraptor is a hybrid of the Indominus rex and a velociraptor, but looks like a slightly more menacing version of the latter. It can’t be denied that both of these hybrid dinosaurs had great designs, but they looked familiar to dinosaurs that we had already seen in the franchise. Therefore, neither the Indominus rex nor the Indoraptor is that memorable.

D-Rex Can Help Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Easily Top The Franchise’s Other Hybrid Dinosaurs

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Looks Like A Terrifying Movie

Unlike the aforementioned hybrid dinosaurs, Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s D-rex looks nothing like anything we have ever seen in the franchise. Even though some fans argue that it doesn’t look enough like a dinosaur, it seems like the D-rex will easily top the franchise’s other hybrid dinosaurs. Since Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is focusing more on horror in an attempt to recapture the magic of the original Jurᴀssic Park, the D-rex will likely have plenty of thrilling scenes to shine. Therefore, I can’t wait to see just how scary the D-rex is in Jurᴀssic Word Rebirth.
