New Predator Movie Looks Like It’s Introducing An Entirely Different Yautja Variant

Another trailer has recently been revealed for Predator: Killer of Killers, and it seems like it might be introducing new franchise lore. Killer of Killers is the first of two Predator movies to be released this year. Unlike the other movies in the series, the film will be an adult animated and non-linear film that tells the stories of warriors fighting the Yautja in three separate timelines. These eras include feudal Japan, the Viking age, and WW2. The movie is set for release on June 6.

This film was announced late last year, and the first teaser for Predator: Killer of Killers was released in April of this year. Today, another trailer has been released. As is the case with the previous look, the trailer showcases the main characters and the distinct settings for the film. The Japan, Viking, and WW2 timelines will focus on power, family, and freedom, respectively. In addition to the thematic elements, the trailer hinted at one key lore element in Predator: Killer of Killers that could hint at something big to come.

Predator: Killer Of Killers’ Trailer Teases A New Yautja – And It’s Mᴀssive

This Is Like No Other Yautja

Big Yautja in Predator_ Killer of Killers trailer

The Yautja are seen throughout the Killer of Killers trailer, but there is a new version of one seen in the final moments. In the last sequence, the WW2 pilot squints as he looks into the sun. A spacecraft then opens up to reveal one of the Yautja in the film, and it is different from any other Predator movie thus far. It is physically huge, and sports thick dreadlocks and a rib-like bone structure on its back that looks like an open-faced skeleton. This new design hints at some expanded lore in the upcoming film.

There’s only a small glimpse of this new Yautja in the Killer of Killers trailer, but its inclusion is still notable due to how different it appears. The physical characteristics do not look like direct matches for the other hunters featured throughout most of the trailer. This suggests that the giant-looking Yautja is a fourth version of the alien included in the film, unless one of the other three undergoes some transformation. In the case, this could be a brand new, never-before-seen breed of the franchise’s iconic villains.

What Predator: Killer Of Killers’ New Yautja Could Be

This Could Represent A New Variant

Because this Yautja is revealed at the very end of the Predator: Killer of Killers trailer, no time is taken to explain what exactly it is. There are numerous options for what it could be. While it is almost certainly the same alien species as has been focused on in earlier movies, it is possible that it is meant to represent a new variant of the Yautja. This would explain its mᴀssive size, as it could have mutated over time. The monster also seems to be in the most recent timeline within the film, so it could have evolved.

However, a full breed evolution might be hard to explain canonically, as this version of the alien has not been seen in any of the other films. By the time Dutch and other future fighters went against the Yautja, it is possible that this breed could have been killed off between WW2 and the 1987 era in which the first movie takes place. Alternatively, this could be a hybrid being that is some kind of leader of the Yautja, akin to a king. Whether hybrid, mutation, or leader, this Yautja version looks terrifying.

Predator: Killer Of Killers Introducing A New Yautja Could Help Explain The Movie’s тιтle

This New Yautja Could Be The Killer Of Killers

A Viking in a snowy camp with blood on his face in Predator: Killer Of Killers

The film’s тιтle is largely thought of as referring to the plight battle between the humans and the Yautja. After all, the trailer focuses heavily on how the humans, including the Vikings and more, must step up to kill their alien predators. At the same time, the aliens kill these warriors and killers, turning both sides into killers of killers.

It seems like this latest Yautja is the strongest of all the alien species. As such, this Yautja might be what the тιтle references with “the Killer of Killers.” After all, the first “killer” is singular, implying a singular being, rather than the multiple “killers” seen mᴀssacring the other side. If this pans out to be true, this could put a whole new spin on the Predator: Killer of Killers тιтle.
