Where To Watch Every Karate Kid Movie Online Before Karate Kid: Legends

All of the previous Karate Kid movies are available either on streaming, video on demand, or both, for viewing ahead of 2025’s Karate Kid: Legends. The movie, which was directed by Jonathan Entwistle (I Am Not Okay with This) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber (Peter Rabbit) follows a fresh, New York-based character named Li Fong (Ben Wang), who trains in a new form of martial arts after moving to the United States. The ensemble cast of the movie includes incoming characters played by Sadie Stanley, Joshua Jackson, Wyatt Oleff, Aramis Knight, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Jennifer-Lyn Christie, and Ming-Na Wen.

In addition to being the first feature-length installment in 15 years, the upcoming Karate Kid: Legends will be the first to blend legacy characters from both branches of the franchise by having Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) work together. LaRusso is the main character of the first three movies in the franchise as well as the streaming sequel series Cobra Kai (in which he co-stars with William Zabka as his rival Johnny Lawrence). Meanwhile, Mr. Han was introduced in the kung fu-based remake of the original movie – also тιтled The Karate Kid – that premiered in 2010.

The Karate Kid, Karate Kid 2 & Karate Kid 3 Are Streaming On Hulu

The Original Daniel LaRusso Trilogy Is All Together

The original installment, 1984’s The Karate Kid, is currently available on Hulu, along with its first two sequels, namely 1986’s Part II and 1989’s Part III. All three joined the platform, which is owned by Disney Streaming, on April 1, 2025, and are also available in Spanish. The three movies are the most closely-linked features in the franchise, following Daniel LaRusso’s story closely as he first trains in martial arts, travels to Japan, and briefly allows himself to fall under the influence of the villainous Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) during a rift with his mentor, Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita).

The Movie Attempted To Revitalize The Franchise In The ’90s

1994’s The Next Karate Kid, which starred Hilary Swank as a new student for Daniel’s mentor Mr. Miyagi, is available on the streaming service Tubi, which is owned by Fox Corporation. While all four of the original Karate Kid movies were distributed by Columbia Pictures, the fact that the quartet of тιтles is now scattered speaks to them potentially having experienced rights issues that have prevented them from being unified under a single license-holder. It is also possible that Hulu was uninterested in the movie, which holds a dismal 7% score on Rotten Tomatoes and was a box office disappointment.

2010’s The Karate Kid Is Streaming On Prime Video

The Remake Will Play Into Karate Kid: Legends In A Major Way

The 2010 remake of The Karate Kid, which boasted a cast that included Jaden Smith, Taraji P. Henson, Wenwen Han, Zhenwei Wang, Yu Rongguang, and Luke Carberry alongside Jackie Chan as Mr. Han, is currently streaming on Prime Video. Although Columbia Pictures also participated in the production of the remake, the rights to the тιтle are unlikely to have been paired with the other movies, considering the fact that it was a co-production between the United States, China, and Hong Kong and therefore had multiple other production companies and distributors attached, including China Film Group, EDKO, and JW Productions.

The franchise is especially scattered considering the fact that the sequel series Cobra Kai is streaming on Netflix. However, so far Karate Kid: Legends does not show signs of being directly connected to the storyline of the six-season series, so it may only be necessary to brush up on the original movies before viewing the legacy sequel.
