Ana de Armas Hints Ballerina’s Eve Is The New John Wick After His High Table Story Is Confirmed Over

Exclusive: Oscar-nominated actress Ana de Armas teased the future of her character Eve in the John Wick franchise after the first spinoff movie Ballerina, hinting that she is carrying on the torch after Keanu Reeves. After a groundbreaking run of four movies that changed the face of action cinema, the John Wick franchise will debut its spinoff Ballerina on June 6, 2025. This movie will follow a young woman on a similar journey of revenge as John Wick, with de Armas playing Eve as she sets out to avenge her family.

In an interview with Screen Rant, de Armas suggested that Eve’s story will continue to mirror her predecessor’s arc when John Wick’s storyline with the High Table is over. Ballerina‘s story follows a similar initial premise to John Wick, and the new star argues that what happens in the aftermath of her revenge will also be familiar. John Wick disturbed the world led by the High Table and spent the next three movies dealing with the fallout — Eve may face the same consequences. Check out de Armas’ comments below:

Screen Rant: What’s something you want Eve to do next as a part of her evolution and journey?

Ana de Armas: Ooh. I think that there’s going to be a few things to resolve after this one. Clearly she will have some people coming after her for what she’s done. She’s now in a place where John Wick was. She’s the one being hunted and people want her ᴅᴇᴀᴅ. After wanting to get in so badly, I want to see her handling a good situation. I want to see how she deals with that, having nowhere to hide. Probably some other family members will come after her that she doesn’t know, so we’ll see. Really, this could go anywhere and I’m sure it will be really exciting.

What This Means For Ballerina

Eve’s First Movie Being Similar To The Original John Wick Is Intentional

When John Wick returns to the criminal underworld and the Continental system to pursue the gangsters who killed his dog, he gets the attention of people who think they can use him if he is back at work. This sets off a chain reaction, as Wick desperately tries to escape this business again, and eventually strikes back at what he sees as an unjust rule. With Eve, Ballerina‘s trailers suggest she is causing trouble from the beginning by going on a personal mission, making her a John Wick stand-in as the franchise grows beyond him.

Presumably, Eve will survive her first movie and be established as a recurring character in the franchise. As de Armas suggests, this may kick off a new series of movies about another skilled operative constantly on the run because she dared to fight on her own terms rather than those of the High Table, the Continental, or the Ruska Roma. When de Armas says “Probably some other family members will come after her,” she may be referring to other Ruska Roma agents, which means her story could allow the writers to continuously elaborate upon this group.

Our Take One Ana de Armas’ Comments

We Would Love To See Eve Become A Staple Of The Franchise

From the beginning, I’ve felt that Ana de Armas was the perfect person to step into Keanu Reeves’ shoes as the new John Wick-style figure leading the series. Eve’s story taking after John’s is further evidence of a strong setup. While John Wick 5 is now confirmed to be happening, the franchise can also work on a parallel story about Eve to illustrate the dynamics and cycles of violence of this secret society. So long as the franchise continues to maintain its quality, it would be great to see Eve Macarro slowly become the new John Wick in movies after Ballerina.
