Final Destination Bloodlines’ Debut Rotten Tomatoes Score Sets Franchise Record, & It’s Not Even Close

Final Destination Bloodlines‘ Rotten Tomatoes score is here and sets a record for the horror franchise. Arriving in theaters on May 16, the upcoming sixth installment in the franchise marks Final Destination‘s return in over two decades. Joining the late Tony Todd, who reprises his role as William “J.B.” Bludworth, Final Destination Bloodlines features Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Rya Kihlstedt, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, and many others.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the early reviews for Final Destination Bloodlines have been tabulated, debuting with a near-perfect score that’s easily the best in the franchise. Generated from 44 critical reviews, the new movie currently sits at a 91% approval rate. However, the score is likely to fluctuate as more reviews flow in.

What This Means For Final Destination Bloodlines

Final Destination Bloodlines Is Poised For Success

Up to this point, no Final Destination movie had ever reached a score beyond 65%. The first Final Destination movie, released in 2000, has a 40% critic score from over 100 reviews and a 68% audience score. Despite not being a critical darling, the movie is hailed as a cult classic among horror fans and was responsible for launching an entire franchise, known for its unique premise and inventive death scenes that leave a long-lasting impression. In 2002, Final Destination 2 tripled its production budget but received mixed reviews from audiences and critics.

Similarly, the following three movies didn’t do so well on the critical side, with the fourth movie, The Final Destination, notoriously poorly reviewed. However, the fifth installment saw a turning point in the franchise with the first fresh Rotten Tomatoes score. If the current score holds, the highly-rated Final Destination Bloodlines will easily top Final Destination 5‘s reception at its debut. ScreenRant‘s review by Nadir Samara praises the movie as “a spectacle, a joyride, and easily the funniest iteration in the franchise.”

Our Take On Final Destination Bloodlines’ Debut Rotten Tomatoes Score

Could Final Destination Bloodlines Be The Best In The Franchise?

Directed by Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky, the upcoming movie seems poised for both financial success and critical acclaim. As teased in the Final Destination Bloodlines trailer, the movie revolves around an exceedingly strong premise that traces back to one incident that messed up Death’s plan and set off a whole new cycle that repeats itself over time. Featuring a star-studded cast, the new film centers on family and legacy, giving audiences more to root for.

The first reviews not only note the inventive kills in the movie but also highlight how it tackles a new aspect of Death’s gruesome killing ritual without breaking canon.
