Star Wars Gives Us A First Look At Finn & Jannah After Rise Of Skywalker

Star Wars has finally given us a first look at Finn and Jannah after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

, in the new cover for an upcoming book exploring the movie’s aftermath. We recently learned that Finn and Jannah’s Star Wars story would continue in an upcoming novel by Kwame Mbalia, Star Wars: The Last Order. Releasing on October 21, this promises to tell the story of the First Order’s fall.

Collider has revealed an exclusive first look at the cover, showing Finn and Jannah.

Star Wars The Last Order Cover

The story will see Finn and Jannah work together to uncover a plot by the last remnant of the First Order – who are kidnapping children to begin a new generation of stormtroopers. According to Mbalia, the strange flower motif on the cover is something of a teaser:

“I don’t know if this is a spoiler, but there are these beautiful flowers on the cover that are framing these two characters, these stormtroopers, in their armor, their helmets off. You have these flowers framing them, and these flowers are integral to the story. When I saw that, I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is gorgeous.’ In fact, I used to do something called Covers and Kicks, where a book cover would drop, and I would pick a pair of shoes, and I would just, ‘Hey, if you like this cover, these are some shoes…’ I went out, and I bought a pair of shoes that match the covers. So, I cannot wait until it drops so that I can do a little pH๏τo shoot with my new shoes.”

Will We See Finn (& Jannah?) Learn The Ways Of The Force?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker revealed Finn was a Force-sensitive, and there’s intense excitement about the possibility he’ll go on to become a Jedi. We don’t know if that’s the case, though; he could potentially choose a different path. Boyega is not confirmed to return in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s upcoming “New Jedi Order” movie, so we have no idea what to expect. One thing’s for sure, though; Lucasfilm has made a decision, because this book wouldn’t be coming out otherwise.

Many have speculated that Jannah, like Finn, is Force-sensitive – and so were all her unit, who defected from the First Order with her. We know the dark side was used in First Order brainwashing, so it would make sense for only Force-sensitives to be able to break free from their control. If Jannah does have the Force, then we’ll presumably learn the truth pretty soon.

Is This The Beginning Of Star Wars’ New Era?

The timing of this announcement is surely no coincidence. We know Ryan Gosling is set to star in Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter movie, which is set five years after The Rise of Skywalker. Those plans have presumably opened up a new part of the Star Wars timeline – one Lucasfilm publishing is about to explore. This new Finn and Jannah novel is surely just the beginning.
