Final Destination Bloodlines’ 18 Easter Eggs & Franchise References Explained

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Final Destination Bloodlines! As Death’s plan unravels again, Final Destination Bloodlines includes a handful of Easter eggs and references to previous installments and characters. The 2025 film focuses on an entirely new set of individuals. Stefani inherits her grandmother’s premonition of the Skyview incident and learns they’re all on Death’s wish list. This knowledge comes through talking to her grandmother, Iris, and learning about all the previous unnatural deaths she’s tracked over the years. It also includes a visit with Tony Todd’s character, as Final Destination Bloodlines details William Bludworth’s origin.

While Final Destination Bloodlines‘ story is fairly self-contained, connections are made to earlier installments in the franchise. The overall plot seems to connect all the Final Destination movies together through the Skyview survivors, but that isn’t directly confirmed. And as the sixth installment in the franchise, the filmmakers know the tropes to play with and how the new film can cleverly acknowledge some of the prior events. By the time Final Destination Bloodlines‘ credits roll, there are well over a dozen references and Easter eggs we’ve caught.

Elevators Are Still ᴅᴇᴀᴅly In Final Destination

A Connection To Final Destination 2

Final Destination 2 Nora's head trapped in an elevator

Early on in the movie, Iris’s premonition about Skyview that Stefani also sees in her dreams shows a few major deaths that Death had planned. Many are inventive and cruel, but one is a bit more familiar. The restaurant’s host attempts to escape the disaster by going down the elevator. However, he gets stuck between the doors and is quickly killed as the elevator begins moving. It’s difficult not to think this is a callback to Final Destination 2 when Nora Carpenter got her head stuck between elevator doors and was decapitated.

Stefani’s Car Holds An Easy-To-Miss Reference To Carter

A Clever Connection To An Original Character

Final Destination ending Carter talking to Alex in Paris

There’s also a subtle reference to Final Destination‘s Carter in Bloodlines thanks to Stefani. It comes through her car. While she doesn’t drive a Chevrolet SS like Carter did, both of their vehicles have a RFK 575 license plate. This Easter egg is very easy to miss while watching Final Destination Bloodlines, but there is visual proof that the license plate numbers are the same on Reddit. Interestingly enough, this also connects the franchise to other movies, as Zoolander and The Wolf of Wall Street also featured cars with this fake license plate number.

It’s Best To Empty Your Pockets

Iris Is Just As Cautious As Claire

Clear Rivers in Final Destination 2

When Stefani goes to visit Iris, she is given some familiar orders for someone who is visiting one of Death’s targets. Her grandmother tells her to empty her pockets, which is similar to what Kimberly had to do in Final Destination 2 when visiting Clear. In both instances, Clear and Iris fear that Death will use a hidden object, like keys, to bring about their downfall. There’s no indication that Clear and Iris developed this survival tactic together, but they have similar approaches to evading Death as long as they can.

Death’s Targets Love A Remote Location To Stay Safe

Alex & Iris Tried Similar Tactics

Alex Browning from Final Destination

When we’re introduced to Iris in Final Destination Bloodlines, we see her house in the middle of nowhere. She has fortified the house to try and protect herself from Death’s schemes, going so far as to not step outside it for 20 years. This is similar to a tactic Alex tried in the original movie. In Final Destination, he goes to a cabin to stay safe and takes precautionary measures to try and ensure Death can’t do anything to harm him. His set up isn’t nearly as complex as Iris’s, though.

Wood Chippers Reference Kimberly Corman & Thomas Burke’s Alternate Ending

Iris Studied How ᴅᴇᴀᴅly They Are

Final Destination 2 ending Kim

Iris’s book in Final Destination Bloodlines proves to be a wealth of knowledge about Death’s plan and the franchise’s history. As Stefani flips through it, there are glimpses of lots of different items that will be familiar to viewers. A glimpse of a wood chipper might not seem important at first, as the franchise has never used one to kill someone. However, that is how Kimberly Corman and Thomas Burke died, according to an alternate ending for Final Destination 3. The deleted scene revealed they both died from a “bizarre” woodchipper accident.

13

Final Destination’s Plane Returns

Flight 180 Is An Iconic Moment

A couple is on a plane in Final Destination 5 ending

Another page in Iris’s book chronicling Death’s plan shows a plane explosion that is all too familiar for the franchise. Flight 180 is undoubtedly the event that Iris was studying here. This is the plane explosion that Alex has a premonition of and kicks off the events of Final Destination. It also surprisingly returns at the conclusion of Final Destination 5, as the movie’s presumed survivors join the list of victims. The importance of Flight 180 in tracking who Death killed must have caught Iris’s attention.

Death’s History Is Plastered On Walls

Stefani Takes A Page Out Of Clear’s Playbook

Clear Rivers in Final Destination 2

After Iris and uncle Howard die, Stefani makes it her mission to decipher Iris’s book, leading her to take all the newspaper clippings, obituaries, and notes that her grandmother collected over the years and put them up on the wall. Stefani building the chronology of Death’s master plan and piecing it all together in this fashion is similar to what Clear Rivers did in Final Destination 2. She’s shown to have collected similar evidence of Death’s design and has her findings hanging on the wall of her room. They’re both looking for answers in the same way.

Erik Almost Dies Like Terry

Look Both Ways Before You Cross The Street, People

Erik surviving the tattoo parlor fire was an unexpected development for Final Destination Bloodlines‘ story, and he continues to tempt Death after it. He has a few close calls, including nearly getting hit by a truck as he steps onto the road. This immediately brings to mind how Terry Chaney died in the original movie. She walks backwards into the road, just like Erik, and is immediately struck by a bus, killing her instantly. It seems Death considered giving Erik the same fate.

A Clear Rivers Mix Up

With A Nod To Her Death Too

Clear Rivers in Final Destination

Ali Larter’s Clear Rivers isn’t present in Final Destination Bloodlines, but the movie does reference the character by name in an unexpected way. When Darlene is trying to remember the name of a hospital, one of the names she throws out is “Clear River Hospital.” This isn’t a traditional namedrop, as Darlene doesn’t even know that she just accidentally referenced a former target of Death’s. Instead, this is a fun way for Bloodlines to reference the character. Connecting her to a hospital is also fitting, considering Clear dies in a hospital explosion in Final Destination 2.

Tony Todd’s Last Appearance As William Bludworth

He’s Been In All But 2 Movies

Tony Todd looking to the side and sitting in Final Destination Bloodlines

The appearance of William Bludworth is more than a franchise callback, as Tony Todd’s character is in most of the installments. He’s the longest recurring character that the series has to offer, but his appearance here is different. Final Destination Bloodlines marks Tony Todd’s final on-screen role. The movie was designed to be his sendoff from the franchise, regardless of his health, but Todd tragically pᴀssed away in November 2024. That’s why the credits include text saying “In Memory of Tony Todd.”
