I’m Convinced Miles Morales Spider-Man’s MCU Debut Is Happening Soon For 3 Major Reasons

After a recent update, I’m now convinced that Miles Morales is coming soon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making his live-action Spider-Man debut. So far, Marvel Studios has used three versions of Spider-Man on the big screen, but they were all Peter Parker. I’m, of course, talking about Tom Holland’s Peter, the star of the MCU’s Spider-Man movies, which are some of the best entries in the franchise, and Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of the hero, who came in from the past Spider-Man movies for No Way Home.

Peter Parker might be the most popular — and the original — version of Spider-Man, but the Miles Morales take on the hero has grown tremendously in popularity due to Sony’s animated Spider-Verse movies. I love the franchise and think it has made Miles a household name for those who do not read the comics. As such, it seems natural that he would transition to live-action, but Marvel and Sony have yet to do it. I’m convinced Miles will come to live-action in a few years, thanks to a few factors related to upcoming Marvel movies.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Latest Casting Could Be Connected To Miles Morales

The MCU Movie Keeps Adding Stars As Secret Characters

Recently, a new Spider-Man: Brand New Day casting was reported, and it got me thinking about how Miles Morales’ Spider-Man could connect to it. According to ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, The Bear star Liza Colón-Zayas has joined the cast of the MCU’s next Spider-Man movie. As was the case when Stranger Things‘ Sadie Sink was reported to be part of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, theories have already begun to emerge about who Colón-Zayas’ secret character could be. After taking a beat, I’m convinced the casting would be perfect to help bring Miles Morales to the MCU.

I believe that Colón-Zayas could be playing Rio Morales, Miles’ mom. While the actress was born in New York, Colón-Zayas is of Puerto Rican descent. That connects her to Rio, who is a Puerto Rican nurse and has the same kind of fierce personality exhibited by Colón-Zayas’ Tina in The Bear. The MCU has already teased Miles Morales’ debut in the past by including his uncle, Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis, in Spider-Man: Homecoming. I believe the same could be happening now, with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day introducing another member of Miles’ family to set up his eventual debut.

Miles Morales’ Marvel Comics Story Has Secret Wars As A Crucial Event

The MCU’s Multiverse Saga Opens The Door For Many Heroes To Debut

Miles Morales and Secret Wars Incursion

Besides the possibility of Miles Morales’ mom being in the MCU’s next Spider-Man movie, there is another upcoming film that makes me even more convinced that the Spider-Man could be coming to live-action soon. In Marvel Comics, Miles did not originally come from Earth-616, which is the designation of the main universe in both the comics and the MCU. Instead, Miles Morales was the active Spider-Man of Earth-1610, the Ultimate Universe, after his world’s Peter Parker died. He would later come to the main Earth in an event that will soon be crucial to the MCU.

Marvel Studios’ Multiverse Saga ends in 2027 with Avengers: Secret Wars. While Miles Morales’ Spider-Man has not been revealed to be part of the film, the 2015 version of Secret Wars in the comics was key to his journey. At the end of the comic book event, the Molecule Man brings Miles and his family to the main Earth as a thank you to the Spider-Man for having shown him compᴀssion earlier and given him a burger when he was hungry. Avengers: Secret Wars could end with a version of Miles being roped into the MCU, perhaps even the Spider-Verse‘s.

We Already Know What Projects Need To Happen Before Miles Morales’ Live-Action Debut

The Live-Action Spider-Man Franchise Could Soon Get A New Key Character

Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s recent casting news is also interesting because of the role the movie has been revealed to play in Miles Morales’ live-action debut. While we do not have any details about what the story of a live-action Miles Spider-Man movie could be, it has been confirmed by Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal that Miles Morales’ live-action debut will only happen after Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the trilogy finale of the animated Spider-Verse franchise, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, have been released.

Well, those two movies now finally have a release date, which means that Miles Morales could make his live-action debut as early as 2027 or 2028. The MCU’s next Spider-Man movie will swing into theaters on July 31, 2026. The animated Spider-Verse trilogy will end roughly a year later, arriving on June 4, 2027. I believe that Marvel and Sony are slowly laying the groundwork for Miles Morales’ live-action debut, and it could even include a live-action tease in either Avengers: Secret Wars or Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. A 2028 Miles Morales Spider-Man movie would be interesting to see.
