DC Studios’ James Gunn Reveals That Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow Wrapped Filming

Recently, DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn revealed that the H๏τly-anticipated DC Universe film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, has wrapped filming. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the movie stars Millie Alcock, Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa. The script was penned by Ana Nogueira, and it draws inspiration from the Tom King comic of the same name. Currently, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for release on June 26, 2026.

On Threads, user @pop_culture_nerd asked Gunn for an update: “James, I wanna hear from you with this news just to confirm; has Supergirl really wrapped filming?” In response, the DC executive simply stated, “Yes it has.” Thanking Gunn, the user replied: “DC is looking brighter than ever!”

In the same thread, Gunn gave an update on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow‘s sister (or more accurately, cousin) project, Superman, set to debut this July. The filmmaker revealed that the latter film is “more than” 90% completed, with most of the ongoing tweaks pertaining to music and visual effects.

What James Gunn’s Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow Update Means

Supergirl’s DCU Debut Is Heading Into Post-Production

Despite the overall production wrapping more recently, Momoa, who will play the iconic DC character Lobo, actually concluded his scenes earlier in the filming schedule. In mid-April, the actor posted several videos celebrating his time as Lobo. He captioned the post:

THATS A WRAP ON LOBO so thankful to play this role. And very thankful for my present mahalo kelly ben todd all the crew at @iamspecialized for my MINECRAFT present. Pink on pink S WORKS LEVO Your support is amazing this is the greatest bike I have ever ridden. Sworks motor is insane. LOVE U GUYS. All my aloha everyone. J.

Now that principal filming has wrapped, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is in post-production. This means that the film is in the process of editing, music composition, and visual effects creation, among other parts of the late filmmaking process. As a result, it is likely that the promotional cycle for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will begin soon, though this is speculation. Superman released its first promotional image about a year ahead of its release, so Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will likely begin sharing glimpses into the production come summertime, with San Diego Comic Con being a likely venue to do so.
