A new Fountain of Youth
image is here, teasing the dynamic between stars John Krasinski and Natalie Portman. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the upcoming Apple TV+ movie stars Krasinski and Portman as Luke and Charlotte Purdue, respectively, estranged siblings who join forces for an epic quest to discover the тιтular mythical fountain. The first Fountain of Youth trailer has already provided a taste of the globe-trotting adventure to come, with Luke and Charlotte poised to ʙuтт heads while being forced to work together.
Ahead of the movie’s release later this month, ScreenRant now presents a new image from Fountain of Youth, showing Portman’s Charlotte looking skeptically over at Krasinski’s Luke during what appears to be some kind of planning session. The table before them is strewn with papers, including maps and blueprints, and the pair are seemingly speaking with Domhnall Gleeson’s character, Owen Carver. Check out the new image below:
What This Means For Fountain Of Youth
Krasinski & Portman’s Recent Projects Explained
For Krasinski, Fountain of Youth follows a successful stint in the world of both TV and movies. The actor is still widely ᴀssociated with his role as Jim Halpert in the cast of The Office, but he has since moved beyond this comedic persona, starring in and directing the first A Quiet Place (2018) on top of starring in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. While trailers have teased that Krasinski’s comedic talents won’t be wasted in Fountain of Youth, the image above affirms that this will be a film with dramatic stakes and a complex bond between brother and sister.
Portman, meanwhile, has more experience as a dramatic actor than as a comedic one, having recently appeared in May December (2023) and Lady in the Lake (2024). She did, however, star in the lighthearted Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), which also attempted to blend comedy with an exploration of deeper themes. Both Krasinski, Portman, and Gleeson will be joined in the Fountain of Youth cast by Eiza González, Stanley Tucci, and Laz Alonso, with the film marking a reunion for Ritchie and González after The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024).
González starred as Marjorie Stewart in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, a World War II film that also starred Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, and Henry Golding.
Our Take On The New Fountain Of Youth Image
The Guy Ritchie Movie Has The Ingredients For Success
Krasinski is at his best when he is able to incorporate more comedy into his roles, and the Fountain of Youth trailers have affirmed that this will be the case in the upcoming Ritchie movie. Portman, meanwhile, isn’t given as many quippy one-liners in the trailer, and she could end up carrying more of the dramatic weight. In any case, it will be interesting to see Krasinski and Portman on-screen together as brother and sister, a dynamic not often seen between leading characters in this type of blockbuster.
Many of Ritchie’s best movies feature plenty of action mixed with the director’s signature sense of comedy and fun. Capturing and maintaining this essence of fun will be crucial for Fountain of Youth to feel like a worthy successor to the Indiana Jones movies and the Uncharted franchise. While the image above conveys more mystery and drama than fun, Krasinski and Portman do seem like just the right duo to make sure Fountain of Youth balances the light with the dark.
