Descendants 5 Reveals Four Key Returning Characters, Including Brandy’s Cinderella

Four key characters are set to return in Descendants: Wicked Wonderland. The fifth installment in the Descendants franchise about the next generation of classic fairy tale figures is currently in production and is expected to arrive in 2026. Picking up after Descendants: The Rise of Red‘s ending, the new movie will explore the aftermath after Red (Kylie Cantrall) and Chloe (Malia Baker) traveled back in time to change their parents’ fate.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Brandy and Paolo Montalban are returning as Cinderella and King Charming alongside Rita Ora’s Queen of Hearts and Melanie Paxson’s Fairy Godmother in Descendants: Wicked Wonderland. Meanwhile, Leonardo Nam will also return as Mad Hatter’s son, Maddox Hatter.

More Descendants: The Rise Of Red Cast Members Will Return

Descendants: Wicked Wonderland will see the consequences of Red and Chloe’s journey back in time. In the fourth Descendants movie, Red’s mother, Queen of Hearts, tries to seize control of their world and behead Cinderella, with whom she grew up as a friend. In an effort to save their parents, Red and Chloe trace the Queen of Hearts’ evil origin and manage to change things before they happened, but as the fourth movie teased, messing with time can be dangerous.

The returning key characters are within expectations, but with their reality changed, new characters have emerged. The list of the announced new cast members and characters in Descendants 5 is extensive, including Liamani Segura as Pink, Brendon Tremblay as Maddox Hatter’s son Max, Alexandro Byrd as Madrigal’s son Luis, Kiara Romero as Captain Hook’s daughter Hazel Hook, Joel Qulette as Robin Hood’s son Robbie, and Zavien Garrett as Dr. Facilier’s son Feelix.

Our Take On The Key Characters’ Return In Descendants: Wicked Wonderland

They Are Significantly Outnumbered By New Characters

Young Queen of Hearts in Descendants 4

Plot-wise, the return of the four key characters isn’t much of a surprise, but it does offer some reᴀssurances about who will be involved in Descendants: Wicked Wonderland. On the other hand, Chloe and Red’s parents and the Fairy Godmother might be the only ones who remain familiar in the upcoming film. Not only will Red find out she has a sibling, Pink, but she’ll also confront how much her mother’s evil turn really changed the world she lives in.

It’s unclear whether Red and Chloe will go back in time to fix things. So far, Ruby Rose Turner, who played the Young Queen of Hearts, and Morgan Dudley, who played the Young Cinderella, are not attached to the fifth installment. The chance of their return is largely tied to whether Descendants: Wicked Wonderland will include a time-travel arc like the last one.
