Netflix continues to release original movies and TV shows at a regular cadence. The streamer recently released тιтles like The Electric State (2025) and The Life List (2025), with Havoc starring Tom Hardy marking one of Netflix’s most recent films. Havoc reviews weren’t glowing from critics or audiences, but the gritty action movie has been a big viewership hit, topping the charts upon its release on April 25.
Though Havoc and many of the streamer’s other big тιтles are presented in English, Netflix is a platform with a global reach, meaning non-English тιтles continue to be an important part of the service’s offerings. Recently, Netflix released non-English тιтles like iHostage (2025), Demon City (2025), Counterattack (2025), Bullet Train Explosion (2025), and The Eternaut (2025–). Now, another recent non-English тιтle has broken through.
Exterritorial Has Become A Major Global Hit For Netflix
The Bilingual Thriller Just Beat Havoc

has just become a major Netflix global hit, beating some major тιтles. Directed by Christian Zübert, the action thriller film stars Jeanne Goursaud as Sara Wulf, a former Special Forces soldier who illegally searches a U.S. consulate after her son goes missing, finding herself wrapped up in a dangerous conspiracy. Goursaud is joined in the Exterritorial cast by Dougray Scott, Lera Abova, Kayode Akinyemi, Annabelle Mandeng, and Samia Hofmann, among others, with the action playing out in both English and German.

What This Means For Exterritorial
How The New Netflix Action Thriller Has Been Received
Exterritorial may be a major viewership hit on Netflix, but the reception to the movie hasn’t been glowing from audiences. There aren’t enough reviews for a Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score to have taken shape, but the audience score is a lackluster 43% from over 100 reviews. It’s a similar story on IMDb, where the movie has a 5.8/10 score from over 5,000 users.
Clearly, this mixed reception isn’t deterring new viewers, however, as Exterritorial enjoys a healthy lead over the second place тιтle. It’s interesting to note that Havoc, too, has been met with a mixed response but has also succeeded in terms of viewership. It’s a similar story for other top-10 тιтles as well, with the iHostage reception earning the film an 18% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Clearly, Netflix is good at getting its new тιтles in front of subscribers, even when the responses to these тιтles aren’t always glowing.
