Jon Hamm is set to reunite with his Mad Men co-star in a new R-rated movie. Running from 2007 to 2015, the AMC period drama series starred Hamm as Don Draper, the charismatic creative director of an advertising firm. The role is widely considered the actor’s breakout role, responsible for making him a household name.
Now, Hamm and John Slattery, who played Roger Sterling on Mad Men, will reunite in a new R-rated comedy that takes place in the entertainment industry. David Wain, who is best known for directing Wet H๏τ American Summer, will helm the project, currently under the placeholder тιтle Unтιтled David Wain Celebrity Pᴀss Movie. Hamm and Slattery are joined by Zoey Deutch, Sabrina Impacciatore, Ben Wang, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Ken Marino. The movie’s logline reads:
Midwestern bride-to-be Gail Daughtry (Zoey Deutch) has a “free celebrity pᴀss” agreement with her fiancé… who uses it. Relationship in crisis, Gail sets out on an epic journey through Hollywood to even the scales.
Producer Anthony Bregman said in a statement:
I have been excited about working with David for 25 years since I read what I thought was the funniest script of all time, Wet H๏τ American Summer. Now, years later, I am happy to now be working with him and Ken on the only script that’s ever made me laugh harder.
Producer Crystine Zhang added:
I couldn’t be more excited to bring this wildly fun story to life with such a brilliant team. Working with David Wain, Ken Marino and attaching this phenomenal cast—including Zoey Deutch, Jon Hamm and John Slattery—has been a dream come true. I can’t wait for audiences to join us for this super wacky comedy with lots of heart.
What This Means For The Celebrity Hall Pᴀss Movie
It All Comes Back To Hollywood
Hamm and Slattery are known for their on-screen chemistry, evident in the long-running Mad Men. Prior to reuniting in the upcoming R-rated comedy, the two worked together on Slattery’s directorial debut, Maggie Moore(s), starring Tina Fey. Aside from co-starring in one of the most successful period dramas, the two also have impressive movie credits, with Hamm having appeared in Top Gun: Maverick, The Report, and Baby Driver, and Slattery having co-starred in the Oscar-winning film Spotlight.
The Unтιтled David Wain Celebrity Pᴀss Movie was described as an “off-the-rails odyssey through modern-day Hollywood.” With a script by Wain and Marino, the movie, which both Mad Men stars will also executive produce, has the potential to be the kind of broad, wide-appeal comedy that Hollywood has made less of in recent years. It could be a big success when it premieres.

Hamm And Slattery Could Play Themselves In The New Movie
It’s unclear what roles Hamm and Slattery will play, but a woman’s journey through Hollywood for revenge sounds delicious. Juror #2 star Zoey Deutch will take the spotlight as the bride-to-be, though maybe she won’t be engaged for long. Since the movie takes place within the entertainment industry, whether the Mad Men stars have been cast as celebrities or executives is a question that needs answering.
Both Hamm and Slattery are celebrities in real life, but they have both excelled in executive roles on-screen, especially Hamm, who recently played an oil company head in the Taylor Sheridan-created series Landman, and is headlining the Apple TV+ series Your Friends & Neighbors. With details under wraps, moviegoers will have to find out more about their roles later. The movie is sH๏τ in Los Angeles and currently doesn’t have a confirmed release date.
