Another Simple Favor Retcons One Of The Biggest Blake Lively Twists From The Original Movie

Warning! This article contains major SPOILERS for Another Simple FavorAnother Simple Favor changes one of the biggest plot points from the original movie, which was released in 2018. Seven years after A Simple Favor, Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick return as Emily and Stephanie in the sequel, which is much bolder and more ambitious than the first film. While the sequel attempts to raise the stakes, reviews for Another Simple Favor have been quite mixed, with Screen Rant’s own Mae Abdulbaki giving it a score of 6 out of 10. Even though some reviews aren’t that high, Another Simple Favor is still a very entertaining movie.

There are many twists in Another Simple Favor that keep viewers interested in the story. However, the reveal that Emily’s other sister, Charity, is actually alive, is by far the biggest twist in the movie. Because of this twist, Emily actually ends up being one of the heroes at the end of Another Simple Favor, which reverses the conclusion of the first film. This twist also reverses another major plot point from the first movie, since Charity was revealed to be stillborn in A Simple Favor.

Another Simple Favor Retcons Emily’s Sister Charity’s Death

Charity Is One Of The Villains In Another Simple Favor

Stephanie finding out about Emily’s backstory was a major aspect of the first movie. In A Simple Favor, Stephanie discovered that Emily’s real name is actually Hope, and that she has a twin sister named Faith. In the film, Emily killed her twin in an attempt to cash in on her own life insurance policy. However, in addition to Faith, it is revealed that there was actually a third sister named Charity. Hope, Faith, and Charity were triplets, but the first movie revealed that Charity died during childbirth.

Since neither Emily nor Stephanie know about Charity’s existence, her being the one who murders Sean and Dante in Another Simple Favor is a shocking twist.

Emily has spent her whole life thinking that her other sister is ᴅᴇᴀᴅ. However, this is revealed to not be the case in Another Simple Favor. The sequel reveals that Aunt Linda, who delivered the triplets, actually stole Charity after she was born and hid her from Hope, Faith, and their mother. Aunt Linda is a con artist who used Charity to get what she wanted from her targets all over the world. Therefore, when she’s attending Emily’s wedding in Another Simple Favor, she brings Charity along so that she can help take money from her own sister.

Since neither Emily nor Stephanie know about Charity’s existence, her being the one who murders Sean and Dante in Another Simple Favor is a shocking twist. Even though Stephanie doesn’t really trust Emily throughout the movie, they have to work together at the end of the film to stop both Charity and Aunt Linda. Thankfully, Charity is obsessed with Emily, which helps them bring Aunt Linda, the true villain of Another Simple Favor, down.

Charity’s Surprise Survival Helped Repeat The OG Movie’s Biggest Twists

Another Simple Favor’s Main Twist Once Again Involves One Of Emily’s Sisters

Emily having a twin sister in A Simple Favor was the main reason that she was able to (at first) successfully stage her own death. If it wasn’t for Stephanie and her detective skills, Emily likely would have gotten away with murder in A Simple Favor. Emily was the main villain in the first movie, but that is not the case in Another Simple Favor. Instead of Emily targeting Faith, as was the case in the first movie, Charity targets Emily in Another Simple Favor.

In the sequel, Charity stands in for Emily in many scenes, which means that Another Simple Favor repeats the biggest twist from the first movie. Faith died in the first movie, so she was obviously never going to return, but the retcon that Charity is actually still alive allows Another Simple Favor to once again trick viewers. This twist and Charity’s shocking story successfully keep viewers engaged during the intense climax of Another Simple Favor, which is now streaming on Prime Video.
