Daredevil Actor Charlie Cox Addresses His Missing Chair From Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday Cast Reveal

With Avengers: Doomsday officially in production, Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Charlie Cox opens up about Daredevil’s chair not being part of the initial announcement. 2025 marked the year for the return of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in the Marvel timeline when Daredevil: Born Again season 1 finally premiered on Disney+. However, there is still a big desire to see the iconic New York hero finally teaming up with the Avengers.

In a new interview with Collider, Cox was asked about why there wasn’t an Avengers: Doomsday chair for him during Marvel Studios’ big cast announcement livestream. Cox, who is set to return in 2026 for Daredevil: Born Again season 2, shared the following response about Matt Murdock’s absence from the Doomsday announcement:

It’s not there, is it? [Laughs] Listen, the way that information gets to us is the same way that it gets to everyone else normally. At least historically, that’s been the case. Someone sent me the link. I looked for my name. It’s not there. So, maybe one day [Laughs].

What Charlie Cox’s Comments Mean For Avengers: Doomsday

Cox Could Be Hiding A Future Avengers: Doomsday Casting Announcement

While Cox’s name was not shown during Marvel Studios’ surprise announcement stream back in March, Avengers: Doomsday has only been in production for roughly a month at the time of writing. As of right now, Cox is busy shooting Daredevil: Born Again season 2, which would make him unavailable to film Avengers: Doomsday for a few months. However, that doesn’t mean that Cox and Marvel Studios aren’t keeping a Daredevil appearance in the 2026 movie under wraps, which would explain why he can’t say anything in interviews.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that more Avengers: Doomsday cast announcements are on the way, meaning that Daredevil could easily be a character that gets revealed at a later time. With San Diego Comic-Con in only a few months, it wouldn’t be shocking if Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation – ᴀssuming they are going this summer – is where more cast members get revealed. That would provide an opportunity for a hypothetical Cox announcement, especially if he were to join the production later in the year.

Our Take On Charlie Cox’s Avengers: Doomsday Comments

If Cox Misses Out On Avengers: Doomsday, There’s Always Avengers: Secret Wars

Despite Cox’s comments about not being part of Avengers: Doomsday for the time being, it remains to be seen whether he truly won’t appear, or if this is meant to be a big surprise for later. If Daredevil genuinely isn’t in the next movie, there is always the chance that Cox could get his due as part of the Avengers: Secret Wars cast. Hopefully, more updates about Avengers: Doomsday will emerge as they get further into filming.
