I Know The Perfect тιтle For Minecraft 2 The Sequel Has To Use

After watching A Minecraft Movie, I’m so curious to learn what the sequel will be called. While a sequel to A Minecraft Movie has not yet been officially announced, it would be a huge missed opportunity if one didn’t get made, and that’s coming from someone who didn’t really enjoy the film. Even though reviews for A Minecraft Movie have been quite mixed, it has been a mᴀssive box office success. As of this writing, A Minecraft Movie has grossed $819 million at the worldwide box office (via Box Office Mojo).

Screen Rant’s Mae Abdulbaki gave A Minecraft Movie an underwhelming score of 4 out of 10, which is a rating I agree with. By the end of A Minecraft Movie, I was very disappointed by its weak story and shallow characters. However, this doesn’t mean I don’t want a second Minecraft movie to get made. After all, there are so many more things in the Overworld (and other dimensions) that could be explored in a sequel. Therefore, even though a second film hasn’t been confirmed yet, I have figured out the perfect тιтle for a sequel to A Minecraft Movie.

Minecraft 2 Should Be Called A Minecraft Sequel

The Sequel To A Minecraft Movie Needs To Have Another Simple тιтle

I remember being surprised when I learned that the long-awaited Minecraft movie was literally going to be called A Minecraft Movie. By just calling it exactly what it is, the тιтle of the first movie is very direct and kind of meta. It took me some time to decide whether I liked the тιтle or not, but I appreciate the thought process behind the тιтle of A Minecraft Movie. In an interview ahead of the film’s release, Legendary’s Chairman of Worldwide Production Mary Parent and director Jared Hess explained how they decided on the тιтle. They said:

Mary Parent: We’re calling it ‘A Minecraft Movie’ because we’re respecting the fact that there’s no one story that drives the game.

Jared Hess: We’re not the official story. We’re not canonizing anything. We’re just one of a zillion stories.

Since it is based on a sandbox video game that allows players to do anything they want, it makes sense that Parent and Hess didn’t want the movie to be the definitive Minecraft story. By calling the film A Minecraft Movie, they respected players who have forged their own stories in the video game. Unlike the film, Minecraft’s Survival mode doesn’t follow a set story, and players are free to find their own path. Therefore, by including “A” in the тιтle, rather than “The,A Minecraft Movie clearly establishes that it is just one of many, many stories.

I appreciate Parent and Hess’ explanation of the тιтle of the first film, which is why I believe the sequel should be called A Minecraft Sequel. It would be strange if the creative team behind the film decided to name the sequel anything else, since the тιтle of the first movie is so simple and straightforward. Including a subтιтle that relates to the story of the film would be too complex and wouldn’t work well with the тιтle of the first movie. Therefore, I think A Minecraft Sequel is the perfect тιтle for the second film.

Other Fun Options For Minecraft 2’s тιтle

There Are Other Good Options For The тιтle Of A Minecraft Movie’s Sequel

While I think A Minecraft Sequel is the best possible name for the second movie, there may be some other solid options, as well. For example, Another Minecraft Movie is a тιтle that would flow well with that of the first film. Additionally, while a bit more clunky, I also think A Second Minecraft Movie is a good name. If the studio is planning on turning Minecraft into a major movie franchise with several sequels, then A Second Minecraft Movie could be smart since all future movies could be numbered as such.

More than anything, I really don’t want the sequel to be тιтled A Minecraft Movie 2. Just adding a number to the end lacks creativity, which is something that the Minecraft franchise should be all about. In my opinion, any of the aforementioned тιтles would be much better than A Minecraft Movie 2. Overall, I am very excited to learn what the sequel to A Minecraft Movie will be тιтled when it is inevitably announced.
