New Ballerina Image Shows Ana De Armas Using A Weapon Keanu Reeves Never Did In 4 Movies As John Wick

New images have been revealed for Ballerina, showing a better look at Ana de Armas’ new role. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is an upcoming spinoff that follows a female ᴀssᴀssin named Eve, who completes rigorous training as part of the Ruska Roma, to avenge her father’s death. Unlike the Chad Stahelski-helmed main series, Ballerina is directed by Len Wiseman. De Armas plays the lead role, with Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Angelica Houston, Norman Reedus, and Gabriel Byrne also making appearances. The movie will release on June 6.

Now, Entertainment Weekly has revealed new images for Ballerina. The first image shows Eve traipsing through a snowy environment. Changing elements for the second image, Eve walks through a fiery background and holds a flamethrower. In another image, she is getting her Ruska Roma tattoos, wearing a dress while doing so. The last image also contains some fire, but this time, the Ballerina protagonist is spraying a hose. Check out the images below:

What This Means For Ballerina

The Marketing Is Emphasizing Fire And Ice Again

The Ballerina trailers have already given a good idea of what the film’s fighting arena may look like, but these images give an even further glimpse into the situation. They also reᴀssert how important the Ruska Roma will be to the film, showing Eve getting tattoos from the group. This interplay with snowy environments and the more typical interior landscape of an underground John Wick universe organization will create interesting tension.

Marketing-wise, “fire and ice” has been a big part of Ballerina‘s campaign. Back in March, Lionsgate hosted a trailer event for a new glimpse at the film. Before actually showing the trailer, there were giveaways and a reveal that the TV hosting the trailer was trapped in ice, and a flamethrower would have to be used to melt the ice and free the television to be able to show the trailer. “Fire” is portrayed in two of the new publicity images, and “ice” also makes an appearance conceptually through the snowy environment.

Our Take On The New Ballerina Images

The Flamethrower Will Be A Key Element

The flamethrower is one of the more intriguing elements in Ballerina. Speaking with EW, De Armas discussed the intensity of the flamethrower scene, noting that she “started crying” when filming it. The bulk of the effects for the scene were practical, making them exciting on a technical level as well. Visually, the flamethrower already looks appealing, adding to the intrigue.
