Aptly тιтled and metatheatrical in nature, Micro Budget is an indie movie that nevertheless features some of the most standout names in comedy. ScreenRant is proud to present a first look at a still that gathers most of them in one sH๏τ prior to the film’s New York premiere on May 3. Deliciously sharp and full of outside-the-box thinking, Micro Budget hails from the minds of director Morgan Evans (MTV’s Bugging Out) and was co-written by him and Patrick Noth (Late Night with Seth Meyers).
The story cleverly pokes fun at the DIY nature of the indie film industry while also paying homage to the art form that so many love, creating with pᴀssion even amidst insurmountable obstacles. Noth plays Terry, a delusionally confident filmmaker who hopes to make a project on a shoestring budget and then sell it for millions. He is joined by Brandon Micheal Hall, Nichole Sakura, Bobby Moynihan, Saturday Night Live‘s Chris Parnell, Maria Bamford, Kate Flannery, Carla Jimenez, Jon Gabrus, Mike Mitchell, and many more.

What Is Micro Budget About, Anyway?
Co-Writer Patrick Noth Leads The Terrific Ensemble Cast
Recently selected for The Popcorn List, Micro Budget follows Terry on the wild journey he takes after discovering he’s about to be a father. Naturally, he packs up and convinces his pregnant wife to move with him from Iowa to LA, where he plans to shoot an indie movie for no money and sell it for a “f–k-ton” of cash. Armed with his cousin’s camera crew, he sets out making his masterpiece, allowing the movie to serve as a peek into the insanity that occurs behind the scenes of film sets.
Check out the film’s trailer below:
The opening line sets the stage for how Terry views filmmaking: after reading about the creator of Paranormal Activity, he decided that he too had what it took to make money out of nothing in the film industry. His project is revealed to be science fiction, but there’s nothing fictional about his cast and crew floundering under a leader who doesn’t understand the weight of his actions. His wife even questions why he seems so unhappy taking on what should be his dream gig, which is certainly a in issue he will have to reflect on as Micro Budget progresses.
