Mission: Impossible 8’s Tom Cruise-Approved Popcorn Bucket Has Been Revealed, & It’ll Make You Feel Like Ethan Hunt

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

‘s Tom Cruise-approved popcorn bucket design has been revealed. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie and serving as a follow-up to 2023’s ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning, the upcoming eighth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise features Cruise back as Ethan Hunt, once again doing battle against The Enтιтy, a rogue AI. Trailers for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning have hyped the movie as a must-see experience in theaters, with Cruise set to pull off his most dangerous stunts yet as Ethan’s journey potentially comes to a close.

As an added bonus for the big-screen experience, the official Regal account on X now shares a new promotional video revealing that the Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning popcorn bucket will take the form of the red spherical housing for The Enтιтy aboard the Sevastopol. The bucket even appears to come with the two halves of the cruciform key introduced in ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning. Check out the video revealing the design below:

What This Means For Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

Cruise Had A Say In The Bucket’s Design

Earlier this year, it was revealed in Empire Magazine (via ComicBook.com) that Cruise and McQuarrie rejected a ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning souvenir popcorn bucket design that took the form of the Sevastopol submarine. The release was instead accompanied by a more classic bucket with The Enтιтy’s red eye imprinted on the side. Cruise is said to have taken a more active role in the popcorn bucket design for The Final Reckoning, meaning the more involved model above comes star-approved.

Souvenir popcorn buckets have become bigger deals over the last few years, with the items now more sought after as collectibles. Sometimes, these buckets can even aid in the marketing of a film, as the infamous Dune: Part Two popcorn bucket did last year. The Enтιтy popcorn bucket for The Final Reckoning seems unlikely to go as viral as the sandworm bucket did, but it does speak to just how important the red spherical housing for the AI threat will be in the upcoming installment as Ethan locates the Sevastopol.

Our Take On The Final Reckoning’s Popcorn Bucket

The Souvenir Could Take On Greater Significance

Though not confirmed, it’s possible that The Final Reckoning will be the last Mission: Impossible movie. In the trailers, after all, there is a clear sense of finality regarding Ethan’s story as things come full circle. If it is indeed Ethan’s last adventure, the souvenir popcorn bucket will be even more special and sought after.

Cruise first played Hunt 29 years ago in 1996’s Mission: Impossible.

The Enтιтy is unique in the larger Mission: Impossible franchise, as every previous installment has had a human villain as the overarching antagonist. As seen in ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Reckoning, the AI threat has essentially crippled the world’s intelligence services, and it will be exciting to see Ethan attempt to take it down once and for all. Though Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is sure to be a thrilling watch regardless, a souvenir Enтιтy popcorn bucket could certainly add to the epicness of the movie theater experience.
