A Minecraft Movie’s Credits Tease A New Team-Up, But The Sequel Can’t Forget About These Characters

A Minecraft Movie had a number of strengths that have allowed it to become one of the highest-grossing movies of 2025, but the biggest success of the movie was undoubtedly its characters, though that success was mainly attributed to Jack Black as Steve and Jason Momoa as Garrett “Garbage Man” Garrison. While those two were the most high-profile names attached to Minecraft‘s cast, and will probably be brought forward in whatever sequel comes out, that sequel shouldn’t forget about the rest of the characters.

Even though A Minecraft Movie‘s reviews were fairly middling, it made enough money that, while no sequel has been officially announced, it is undoubtedly on the way, with a lot of actors and behind-the-scenes talent likely to return. Details about potential story ideas are naturally going to be kept under wraps until the movie is further along in development, but Minecraft‘s post-credits scene teased a new character that shows what direction the franchise is going to go when it comes to the central cast, which hopefully doesn’t reduce the role of Henry and Natalie.

Henry & Natalie Need To Return In A Minecraft Movie’s Sequel

Both Of Those Characters Were Necessary For A Minecraft Movie

While Jack Black was the most bombastic and memorable character from A Minecraft Movie, realistically, Henry is positioned as the main character of the movie, and his relationship with his sister Natalie was one of his biggest character motivations. A Minecraft Movie‘s ending showed off Alex, clearly setting up her alliance with Steve as the big draw for the next movie, and while that is a great direction for the sequel, that team-up shouldn’t replace Henry and Natalie as the central focus of the movie’s characters.

A Minecraft Movie’s Sequel Abandoning Henry & Natalie Would Be A Mᴀssive Mistake

Henry And Natalie Need To Return For The Second Movie

Despite the fact that plenty of adults watched and enjoyed A Minecraft Movie, it is absolutely a kids’ movie, which is clearly shown as its primary demographic. With that in mind, getting rid of Henry and Natalie in the sequel would potentially have a pretty negative impact on the public perception of the franchise, seeing as they were the only child characters present throughout the whole movie. While Natalie was slightly older, Henry was pretty young, with the actor portraying him only being 15.

A Minecraft Movie is still in the midst of its theatrical run, and has earned over $800 million at the box office.

As A Minecraft Movie showed that Alex is also going to be played by an adult, Henry and Natalie need to remain in the franchise to represent the myriad of children who will undoubtedly be watching the sequel. Even though they didn’t become as immediately iconic as Jack Black’s Steve, the next movie having only adult characters in Steve and Alex would be a very weird move, and Henry and Natalie would be a great way to ensure that A Minecraft Movie‘s sequel will remain accessible for kids.
