Fans of both Hazbin H๏τel and Helluva Boss can rest ᴀssured that Vivienne “VivziePop” Medrano will deliver a creatively driven story for several more seasons, which may see an intersection in the future, thanks to a recent (and hilarious) update. Hazbin H๏τel is already renewed for seasons 3 and 4, announced at San Diego Comic-Con last year, before the show’s sophomore season is even out of production. Meanwhile, Helluva Boss concluded season 2 in December — following a different story and set of characters who also live in VivziePop’s psychedelic cartoon version of Hell — and is renewed for season 3.
Hazbin H๏τel focuses on the Princess of Hell’s efforts to rehabilitate sinners at a glitzy H๏τel, while Helluva Boss is about a startup company of imp ᴀssᴀssins carrying out hits on the living — and both have entertained a dedicated fanbase for years now with unique animation, vulgar humor, and wild musical numbers. However, while Hazbin H๏τel was picked up to be produced by Amazon Prime Video after its pilot, Helluva Boss has released all its episodes on YouTube. Now, things are about to change for the story and the platform of both shows, hinting at an eventual crossover.
VivziePop Just Dropped A Video With Updates On Hazbin H๏τel & Helluva Boss
Charlie & Blitzø Bring Us The News From Hell
Recently released on the official VivziePop YouTube channel (and Prime Video’s channel) is a sketch comedy-type announcement featuring the main characters of both the creator’s shows: Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen) of Hazbin H๏τel and Blitzø (Brandon Rogers) of Helluva Boss. New seasons for each show are currently in the works, but Charlie doesn’t have much to say other than expressing her excitement about the triple renewal; the main purpose of her encounter with Blitzø, it seems, is to inform us about the platforming for Helluva Boss season 3.
While Helluva Boss has remained an entirely independent project for the last few years, Hazbin H๏τel has gotten additional funding and marketing from being a Prime Video and A24 production. Now, as explained by Blitzø to Charlie (and us), Prime Video will be producing Helluva Boss, for however long it goes on, but creative control will remain with Vivienne Medrano. New episodes/seasons of Helluva Boss will be available exclusively on Prime for a time before they are released on YouTube, as has been the tradition of this particular show.
Blitzø Hints That I.M.P. Might Be Showing Up At The Hazbin H๏τel Soon
Charlie’s Worst Nightmare Come To Life
Additionally, Prime Video’s investment in Helluva Boss bypᴀsses any issues when it comes to the Helluva Boss characters occasionally jumping over from YouTube to have a crossover event with Hazbin H๏τel. Blitzø strongly hints that this could happen, saying that the new arrangement with Prime means that “we get to f*** around with you guys [the Hazbin H๏τel cast] from time to time.” Blitzø also asks if Charlie knows an “Angle Dust [Angel Dust],” before she cuts him off, apparently to prevent spoilers.
Charlie and Blitzø really are a match made in Hell, as they will inevitably derail the other’s plans.
It would be a plausible segue into a crossover if Blitzø and Angel (Blake Roman) were exes when past acquaintances of staff and guests have randomly shown up at the H๏τel before. Hazbin H๏τel and Helluva Boss have hinted at the possibility of a crossover for years, with Easter eggs alluding to each other appearing in both shows that establish the shared setting. However, Blitzø’s impatience at the end of the promo where he opens a portal and brings out the cast of both shows is the first time we have actually seen them all together.
Charlie & Blitzø’s Interactions Show Exactly Why The Hellaverse Crossover Episode Is Going To Be Amazing
Hazbin H๏τel & Helluva Boss Have Very Different Priorities
As brief and non-plot-centric as it is, VivziePop’s announcement video is still deeply enjoyable, largely because it shows the mᴀssive potential of a crossover stemming from the contrasting characterizations of the two leads. Charlie and Blitzø, in their own ways, are both relentlessly optimistic characters. However, while Charlie promotes kindness and politeness towards everyone, Blitzø takes on Hell with a dark sense of humor, brutally dismissing anyone who insults him. Charlie tries to organize cooperation and self-improvement while Blitzø thrives on chaos. Charlie also probably wouldn’t approve of Blitzø’s killing business, no matter their similar startup dreams.
Charlie and Blitzø really are a match made in Hell, as they will inevitably derail the other’s plans, while, as proven by Henningsen and Rogers’ performances in the promo, still having an odd couple chemistry with each other. Hazbin H๏τel and Helluva Boss have similar messaging about self-acceptance and found family, but they go about such drastically different ways of doing it that they demand a crossover to illustrate the comparison. The Hellaverse doesn’t take typical morality too seriously, but watching the respective casts clash would highlight an entirely new level of these characters’ ideas on being “good” yet embracing life in Hell.
