When Rick and Morty season 8 returns to screens, the anarchic animated sci-fi comedy has a chance to finally give one under-utilized supporting star purpose. Despite how great Rick and Morty season 7’s ending was, it left the series in an unenviable position. Rick and Morty season 8 doesn’t have enough screen time to bring back every fan-favorite supporting star or every serialized subplot from the show’s long history. However, Rick’s relative stability since the death of Rick Prime means viewers could understandably expect more focus on supporting characters.
Already, Rick and Morty season 8 promises Beth and Space Beth will get more screen time, and Jerry and Summer will both get episodes of their own, judging by the тιтle reveals. Morty also deserves more independent adventures now that he has gotten over his need for approval from Rick, thanks to the events of season 7, episode 10, “Fear No Mort.” However, there is also an underused supporting character who was introduced at the height of Rick’s internal conflict and now deserves to gain a role of their own in season 8.
Why Rick & Morty Season 8 Needs Birddaughter To Return
Birdperson’s Daughter Was First Revealed In Season 5
Birdperson’s daughter Birddaughter was first mentioned in season 5, episode 8, “Rickternal Friendhsine of the Spotless Mort.” In that outing, Birdperson’s discovery that Rick had hidden her existence drove a wedge between them, and the outing ended with a resurrected Birdperson departing to seek out his daughter. In a hilarious twist, season 7, episode 1, “How Poopy Got His Poop Back,” saw Birdperson quickly forgive Rick when he admitted that raising his teenage daughter was a lot of hard work and not necessarily something he was equipped to handle.
It is not too shocking that Birddaughter is now a teenager around Morty’s age, whereas Morty is still the same teenager he was before she was even born.
Since Rick and Morty’s Prime Dimension was abandoned back in season 1, the show has messed with the space-time continuum quite a bit. As such, it is not too shocking that Birddaughter is now a teenager around Morty’s age, whereas Morty is still the same teenager he was before she was even born. However, this rapid aging means that Birddaughter has a lot of potential in Rick and Morty season 8. As an existing character from the series who is a rebellious teen girl, Birddaughter could fill numerous roles in the coming episodes.
How Birddaughter Could Fit Into Rick & Morty Season 8
Birdperson’s Daughter Has A Lot Of Potential Roles In Season 8
Birddaughter could be a fun foil for Morty, as he is the meek sidekick to an unpredictable lunatic, whereas she is the rebellious, reckless daughter of a stoic, emotionless character. Birddaughter could even be a love interest for Morty, or a friend or rival to Summer, considering her mother’s idenтιтy. Tammy, Birddaugther’s mother, was Summer’s best friend back in season 1.
Birddaughter could even run into Space Beth while dealing with the Federation, which proves just how much potential this character has. Although Rick and Morty’s comics may get around to exploring this character’s story before the show does, season 8 should find room to include Birddaughter’s story. Rick and Morty season 8 could benefit from a rebellious younger character, and the show owes her some focus after Rick hid her existence from her father for so long.
