When Will Thunderbolts* Release On Streaming?

Disney+ Will Be The Home Of Thunderbolts* On Streaming

Given that Thunderbolts* is yet to kickstart its worldwide theatrical run, no official plans for the movie’s streaming release have been confirmed by Disney or Marvel Studios as yet. That said, Thunderbolts* will undoubtedly be released on Disney+ later in the year, which is the streaming home for all MCU properties. As for when exactly this will be, the lack of confirmed information means we can look at prior Marvel and Disney movies to see if Thunderbolts* will follow the same precedent for its streaming release date.

Concerning MCU movies, Captain America: Brave New World is still not available on Disney+ given that it was only released in February 2025. However, when looking at the two MCU movies before that, ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine and The Marvels, Disney seemed to wait a loose average of around 90 days from their theatrical debut before the films were released on Disney+. The former was slightly longer with 97 days as opposed to The Marvels‘ 89, due to its much stronger box office performance, meaning Thunderbolts* could follow suit if its box office projections are to be believed.

If this trend is followed, Thunderbolts* can be expected to be released on Disney+ anywhere between the final few weeks of July and the beginning of August 2025. Another successful Disney-released movie from 2024, Inside Out 2, also waited 90 days before being added to the House of Mouse’s streaming service. Therefore, all of this points to Thunderbolts* doing the same, though more concrete information is sure to come later in the year.

When Will Thunderbolts* Release On Digital?

Thunderbolts* Digital Release Will Come Before Streaming

Finally, it is worth exploring when Thunderbolts* could be released on digital platforms. Usually, big movies tend to be released on platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV, to name but a few, for a premium price before they are released at regular subscription cost on services like Disney+, in the case of an MCU movie. For Captain America: Brave New World, this digital release date came 60 days after its theatrical debut on April 15, 2025. In Thunderbolts* case, this would place a prospective digital release date in the final week of June 2025, specifically June 27.

Some other MCU movies followed a similar timescale, though with slight differences. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, for instance, was released on digital 63 days after theatrical release, while ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine waited 67 days. Regardless, the rough area is around the same for most MCU releases. As such, Thunderbolts* should be expected on digital any time between June 27 and July 4, 2025. Although these dates are purely conjecture for now, the MCU has set a precedent for these releases, though Thunderbolts* can be checked out in theaters sooner rather than later.
