Deep Cover Trailer: Orlando Bloom & Bryce Dallas Howard Are Stuggling Improv Actors That Go Undercover For The Police

The trailer for Deep Cover reveals Prime Video’s new and exciting comedy. The upcoming action comedy follows three improv actors who are tasked to go undercover in London’s criminal world. The movie features Orlando Bloom, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Nick Mohammed as the leading trio and a supporting cast including Paddy Considine, Sean Bean, Ian McShane, Sonoya Mizuno, and Freya Parker. Deep Cover is directed by Tom Kingsley and based on a screenplay co-written by Colin Trevorrow, Alexander Owen, Derek Connolly, and Ben Ashenden.

Now, Prime Video has revealed the trailer for Deep Cover. The trailer establishes the flawed careers of three improv actors, all of whom are struggling with their careers in some way. The trio’s lives change when a police officer offers them the opportunity to take part in a program that uses “improv comics to take down criminals.” After agreeing to take on the job, a combination of hilarity and action ensues as they get involved in drugs, chase scenes, and more. The end of the trailer noted the film’s release date of June 12.

What This Trailer Means For Deep Cover

Deep Cover’s Cast Boasts Lots Of TV Stars

Deep Cover lead cast Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom, and Nick Mohammed

The Deep Cover trailer makes regular use of touchstone improv phrases to set the tone. Mohammed’s character, when faced with what seems to be one of his first missions, responds “yes, and,” referencing a common improv comedy trope. At a different moment, Howard mentions to Bloom that she “told [him] not to escalate,” but Bloom’s actor character haughtily responds, “it’s where the scene went.” Playing out these improv tactics in real-world situations could be a good source of fun and humor in the movie.

Deep Cover is also full of TV stars, which will likely draw audiences to the film. While Howard and Bloom are far more recognized as movie stars, Bean, McShane, Mohammed, and Considine have had prominent TV roles in recent years. This will make these leading players strong as character actors in the movie, as they have played distinctly different roles in other parts of their careers.

Our Take On The Deep Cover Trailer

Nick Mohammed Is An Exciting Cast Member

Nick Mohammed as Nate in Ted Lᴀsso

Deep Cover‘s trailer makes the movie out to be an amusing journey, ripe with unique character moments. For me, I think the most exciting cast member is Mohammed. The British actor was excellent on the Apple TV+ series Ted Lᴀsso, and one can see seeds of Nathan in his Deep Cover role. His character is determined yet thoroughly nervous, giving him an interesting energy in the Prime Video movie.
