The official streaming release date for Heart Eyes has been revealed. The romantic comedy slasher movie, which stars Mason Gooding and Olivia Holt as a pair of coworkers who are mistaken for a couple by a killer who targets lovers, was directed by Josh Ruben from a screenplay by Michael Kennedy, Christopher Landon, and Phillip Murphy. Generally glowing Heart Eyes reviews earned the movie a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 81% with a nearly matching 71% audience score on the Popcornmeter.
In a post shared by both Josh Ruben and the official Instagram account for the movie, it has been announced that Heart Eyes will make its streaming debut on Netflix on May 8. The post features a gallery of behind-the-scenes images of Ruben on the set of the movie, including several sH๏τs where it appears that the killer is menacingly watching the director while he works. The caption attached to the gallery reads “[Heart Eyes Killer] ‘n me” before announcing the release date. See the original post below:

What This Means For Heart Eyes
It Has Another Chance To Prove Itself
The streaming release date for Heart Eyes once again places the Valentine’s Day slasher movie in direct compeтιтion with another Valentine’s Day-themed movie, the Ke Huy Quan action comedy Love Hurts. The latter тιтle, which opened on the same weekend in February 2025, is set to make its streaming debut on Peacock on May 9. It makes sense that both movies would debut on streaming around the same time, because theatrical windows for a variety of movies have grown increasingly similar in the modern era, no matter the distributor.
Love Hurts stars Ke Huy Quan as a former ᴀssᴀssin whose new life as a realtor is turned upside down when his past comes back to haunt him.
However, this will give Heart Eyes a further opportunity to prove itself as the 2025 Valentine’s Day movie with most ability to connect with audiences. The Josh Ruben horror movie debuted at No. 2 during the weekend before Valentine’s Day, ahead of Love Hurts at No. 3. During their mutual sophomore frame over Valentine’s Day weekend, Heart Eyes captured its core audience, landing at No. 3 an unprecedented 19% week-on-week rise (the smallest week 2 drop for an R-rated horror movie in history) while Love Hurts fell 27.7%, crashing down to No. 7.
Our Take On The Heart Eyes Streaming Release Date
The Movie Could Do Very Well On Netflix
One potentially negative side effect of the Heart Eyes theatrical release being timed to Valentine’s Day is the fact that its streaming release feels disconnected from the movie’s core holiday. However, even if its streaming numbers don’t already surge in May by virtue of the movie being newly available on Netflix (a possibility that already seems entirely likely), it seems highly probable that it will continue to find new viewers every Valentine’s Day as people seek out themed movies to watch, potentially helping cement it as a yearly rewatch for many audience members.
