Captain Marvel’s mid-credits scene was crucial in setting up the finale of the Infinity Saga, which makes this behind-the-scenes fact even funnier. The MCU’s mid and post-credits scenes are often a mixed bag with how they actually relate to the main storyline. Some of these scenes may just be an entertaining Easter egg for fans in the know, while other times they directly set up an upcoming project. After all these years, MCU fans know to stay in the theater until the very end of the credits just in case any new information is dropped.
Considering where Captain Marvel was on the MCU’s release slate, many fans were looking to it to provide more information on the ongoing Infinity Saga. It was one of two films sandwiched between Infinity War and Endgame, with Infinity War already teasing the film when Nick Fury seemingly pages the тιтular hero before becoming victim to the Snap. Although the main film couldn’t include much considering it was set in the past, Captain Marvel’s mid-credits scene did not disappoint when it came to expanding on the Infinity Saga.
Captain Marvel’s Mid-Credits Scene Was One Of The Most Dramatic In The MCU
In the Captain Marvel mid-credits scene, the remaining Avengers are monitoring Fury’s activated pager with no clue as to who it’s calling. They’re surprised by Captain Marvel, who appears looking for Fury since the pager was Fury’s personal link to her. Even though fans knew who was going to appear considering the film they were watching, the scene still played out with a bit of humorous suspense with how Carol appears out of nowhere. Though not the flashiest or action-packed scene ever, it is one of the MCU’s most dramatic mid-credits sequences.
During the press tour for Captain Marvel, actress Brie Larson revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes fact about the mid-credits scene. During her 2019 appearance on The Tonight Show, she said that she actually had no clue what she was filming. She filmed the scene in front of a green screen with the only information being that she was in a room with five other people. She knew that she was looking for Fury because of her one line, but she had no confirmation about his fate or the idenтιтies of the other characters in the scene with her.
Brie Larson Not Knowing What The Captain Marvel Mid-Credits Scene Was About When Filming It Makes It All The More Fascinating
Whether fans agree with the practice or not, quite a bit of the MCU is filmed in front of a green screen because of the fantastical elements. However, one would’ve never ᴀssumed that this grounded scene would be one of them. It ultimately turned out fine considering that this scene wasn’t reliant on character chemistry, but it’s surprising to know that even the film’s lead wasn’t privy to what scene she was filming. It just goes to show the lengths that Marvel will go to avoid spoilers leaking, even with their own actors.
Captain Marvel has an interesting role in Avengers: Endgame considering she is mostly absent. The studio obviously only wanted to bring her in when they really needed to because of how strong she is, causing more of a dramatic build-up to Thanos’ demise. Carol does have a few scenes with the rest of the Avengers when they are discussing their plans right after the successful Snap. However, it’s fascinating to know now that the Captain Marvel actress wasn’t even in the same room as the Endgame cast in some of the few scenes she shared with them.
