After 4 Years Of Development, Tom Hardy’s Action Movie From The Raid Director Is Finally Streaming On Netflix

After spending four years in development, Tom Hardy’s new action film, Havoc, is finally available to stream on Netflix. Director Gareth Evans, who is known for Indonesian action crime films Merantau, The Raid, and The Raid 2, was at the helm of the 2025 movie. Havoc started filming in 2021, but it faced significant delays due to scheduling issues and the SAG-AFTRA strike.

While audiences have been waiting for four years to watch Evans’ new movie, Havoc’s reviews haven’t been entirely positive. Havoc has been criticized for not bringing anything new to the genre and for not being nearly as polished as the director’s other films. But given that it’s been 11 years since The Raid 2 was released, it’s worth checking out Evans’ new action movie, which fans of the director’s style might like.

Tom Hardy’s Havoc Is Now Streaming On Netflix – What The Movie Is About

Havoc Is An Action-Packed Noir Film

Released on April 25, 2025, Havoc stars Tom Hardy as Walker, a weary detective in a crime-infested city dealing with struggles in his personal and professional life. When Charlie, the son of a corrupt mayor, gets involved in a drug deal that goes horrendously wrong, Walker is asked to find him before the leader of the drug gang. As Walker searches for Charlie and investigates the case, he begins to uncover a conspiracy that could destroy the city he loves and protects.

Havoc is action-packed from start to finish. The noir thriller has Evans’ signature in its perfectly choreographed action scenes, but it is way more chaotic than the director’s Raid films. Despite its shortcomings, Havoc’s cast does an incredible job of drawing audiences in. Hardy is great as a corrupt police officer, and Jessie Mei Li perfectly embodies an inexperienced young detective.

Tom Hardy Isn’t The Only Notable Cast Member In Gareth Evans’ Havoc

Havoc’s Cast Grounded Gareth Evans’ Movie

While Hardy is one of the lead characters in Havoc, he isn’t the only notable actor in the 2025 film. Havoc’s cast also includes Timothy Olyphant (playing Vincent), who gained acclaim for his roles in ᴅᴇᴀᴅwood and Justified but can also be seen in Fargo and Daisy Jones & the Six. Forest Whitaker — known for Black Panther, The Last King of Scotland, Godfather of Harlem, and Andor — takes on the role of Lawrence in Evans’ movie.
