A well-regarded Jennifer Lawrence comedy movie has begun to trend on streaming once more, two years after its original release. Lawrence is an actor who is best known for her dramatic roles, having had her breakthrough role with her Oscar-nominated performance in 2010’s Winter’s Bone and going on to become the second-youngest Best Actress winner in history for 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook. In addition to her later Oscar-nominated roles in American Hustle and Joy, she is also known for playing Katniss Everdeen in the dystopian young adult film franchise The Hunger Games and Mystique in the later X-Men movies.
In general, Jennifer Lawrence movies have not called upon her to show off the comic chops that she has displayed on various talk shows and her three-season stint as a series regular on the sitcom The Bill Engvall Show, in which she portrayed Engvall’s character’s eldest child between 2007 and 2009. Generally, the closest she has come to comedy in her features are тιтles that blend humor and drama such as Silver Linings Playbook and 2021’s Don’t Look Up. However, there is one major exception, and it is continuing to find its audience on streaming.
No Hard Feelings Is Charting On A Major Streaming Service
The 2023 Movie Is A Memorably Raunchy Comedy
No Hard Feelings is currently making a splash on a major streaming service. The raunchy 2023 movie stars Jennifer Lawrence as Maddie Barker, a dissolute thirtysomething who agrees to take money from a rich couple to date their socially awkward 19-year-old son Percy (Andrew Barth Feldman). No Hard Feelings reviews earned it a solidly Fresh 70% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes with an even better 86% audience score. The movie grossed $87.3 million worldwide against its $45 million budget, later debuting at No. 1 on Netflix’s weekly chart of their most-watched English-language movies in October 2023.
No Hard Feelings left Netflix in the United States on April 20, 2025.
The Jennifer Lawrence comedy has since found a new home on Hulu, where it debuted on the platform on April 21. No Hard Feelings quickly landed on the streamer’s daily chart of the most-watched movies in the United States, debuting at No. 2 on April 23 before dropping to No. 3 on April 24. At the time of writing, it is No. 4 behind Husband, Father, Killer: The Alyssa Pladl Story at No. 3, The Wolf of Wall Street at No. 2, and the Jude Law crime thriller The Order at No. 1.
What This Means For No Hard Feelings
Its Streaming Success May Make Up For Its Box Office
Given its $45 million budget, it seems likely that the Jennifer Lawrence movie fell short of making a profit in theaters, because its break-even point was most likely somewhere around $112.5 million. However, as a major draw on both Netflix and Hulu, it has likely earned enough streaming revenue over the past two years to have proven itself as a viable success. This could mean that the No Hard Feelings star could have more comedies in her future after spending so long working in the drama genre.
