Avengers: Doomsday will put Doctor Doom against multiple superhero teams, which means he will likely form one of his own, and there are a few Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, as well as some possible newcomers, who would be perfect for Victor von Doom’s side. The MCU’s Avengers movies have evolved beyond focusing on a single team. Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame turned the franchise into synonymous with big Marvel events, not just Avengers movies.
With the announcement of part of Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast, as well as what Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has since commented about the film, a few teams have been confirmed to appear. Among them are the new Avengers, the Thunderbolts, the original X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Wakandans. To defeat all those powerful teams, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will inevitably need help, and here are the characters who could join him in the upcoming MCU movie:

Namor
The Anti-Hero Has A Dark Role In The Comics’ Secret Wars
First up is Namor. The character was one of the surprises in Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast announcement. In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Namor is the film’s villain, leading Talokan into a war with Wakanda. While Namor and Shuri reached a truce by the end of the film, the character’s gray morality could end up being used again, and given his comics’ role, Namor would be perfect for Doctor Doom’s team.

In the 2015 Secret Wars event from Marvel Comics, Namor had an active role in destroying other universes with the Illuminati to keep theirs safe. After the team had morality issues, he left and formed the Cabal, a darker team that had no problem with killing other realities. Namor could play a similar role in Avengers: Doomsday, joining Doctor Doom in destroying other universes to preserve his.

Magneto
A Major Villain With Quite The History Of Fighting Heroes
Ian McKellen’s Magneto is one of the best villains in live-action Marvel movies. The character will make his MCU debut in Avengers: Doomsday. While Magneto and Professor X had seemingly made up when they were last seen playing chess, the villain is all about operating in gray areas. The X-Men universe that appears in Avengers: Doomsday should be the one seen in The Marvels‘ post-credits scene.
The scene revealed that Monica Rambeau had crashed into a universe that had Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, Lashana Lynch’s Binary, and a version of the X-Men. That means that Monica’s trip there should lead to an incursion between the X-Men’s Earth and Earth-616. Upon seeing his universe in danger, Magneto would be more than willing to side with Downey’s Doctor Doom to keep it safe, even if it means fighting the MCU’s heroes.

Thanos
The Infinity Saga’s Main Villain Could Return For A Shocking Moment
Josh Brolin has said in multiple interviews that he has heard whispers about how Thanos could return in the future. While the Mad тιтan is ᴅᴇᴀᴅ in the MCU, there are a couple of ways of how he could return. The first is to take a page out of Avengers: Endgame, using time travel to pull the original Thanos into the conflict.

The other is by using the multiverse to have a new Thanos variant join the fight. One of Secret Wars’ most iconic events is God Emperor Doom snatching Thanos’ spine from his body, instantly killing the villain with ease. Doom could recruit a Thanos variant by using his desire to bring balance to the universe — now multiverse — as a way of convincing him. After Doom wins and creates Battleworld, he can then kill Thanos in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Kang The Conqueror
The Multiverse Saga’s First Main Villain Could Still Play A Role
Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror was supposed to be the main villain of the upcoming Avengers movies. However, Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom took over after the actor was fired. That does not mean that Kang the Conqueror has to be forgotten by Marvel Studios. While he will no longer be the main threat of the films, Doctor Doom could rescue Kang after he was defeated by Ant-Man and the Wasp.
In the end, he could be betrayed by the villain and killed alongside all his variants, thus ending the MCU’s Kang problem.
That would leave the villain in debt with Doom. Victor could then rope Kang into his plans. Since the villain knows all about the multiverse and how to take it over, Kang could serve as a kind of advisor to Doom, helping him get to where he needs to rule the multiverse. In the end, he could be betrayed by the villain and killed alongside all his variants, thus ending the MCU’s Kang problem.

Doctor Strange
The MCU Has Established Him As A Threat To The Multiverse
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness established something important. While the Scarlet Witch presented great danger, Earth-838’s Illuminati revealed to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Marvel hero that the greatest threat to the multiverse was not Wanda Maximoff, but Doctor Strange. The hero would realize that throughout the film, seeing how Doctor Strange variants had caused problems for the multiverse. Earth-616’s Strange himself caused an incursion by dreamwalking.
Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed Doctor Strange will be in Avengers: Doomsday even though he was not announced as part of the movie’s cast during Marvel Studios’ bug reveal event.
After seeing how he can cause great danger to the multiverse, the MCU’s Doctor Strange could try to make things right. Doctor Doom could easily manipulate that desire, pretending to be the savior of the multiverse, making Strange side with him without knowing that doing exactly that is what leads him to be the greatest danger to all universes, just like the Illuminati had told him.

Hydra Captain America
The MCU Movie Could Have Something Special In Store For The Original Avengers
So far, the only two announced members of the original Avengers to appear in Doomsday are Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth. However, Chris Evans will reportedly join them in the MCU movie, though his role has yet to be disclosed. The mystery about which character he could play could lead to an interesting reveal. As one of the faces of the MCU, it would make sense for Evans to follow Downey’s path.
There are rumors that Evans could play HYDRA’s Captain America from the comics in Avengers: Doomsday. The MCU already played with that notion when Steve Rogers pretended to side with the villain organization in Avengers: Endgame, saying, “Hail HYDRA.” With the multiverse and the scope of the Avengers movies, it is possible for all the original Avengers cast to play evil variants in the MCU movie.
4
Sentry
One Of The MCU’s Most Powerful Characters Has A Dark Side
Lewis Pullman will debut as Sentry in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*. While the movie’s trailers have kept his superhero side hidden, Marvel has shown that the character’s dark persona should play a major role in the film. Sentry has a dark side that is called the Void. That is the character seen turning people into shadows in the Thunderbolts* trailers and who is claimed to be “more powerful than all the Avengers rolled into one.”
Pullman’s Bob has a fragile emotional state. As such, even if he ends the movie as a hero, Bob could be easily manipulated by Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. That could come in a few ways. One of them is through Bob siding with him as Sentry, believing Doom is a good guy. The other is through Doctor Doom realizing Sentry’s dark potential and unleashing the Void on Marvel’s heroes at a crucial moment.
3
Sylvie
She Has A Very Important Person To Help
Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. The hero was last seen in the Loki season 2 finale, where the God of Stories chose to be alone for eternity, watching over the multiverse to make sure that his friends could be safe and happy. Sylvie, Loki’s female variant played by Sophia Di Martino, could come back in Avengers: Doomsday to help Loki upon learning that the multiverse is in trouble.
Since Doctor Doom will likely want to take the power over the multiverse to create Battleworld, as he did in the comics, that likely means he will have to go to Loki. Sylvie could side with Doctor Doom to save Loki. If Robert Downey Jr.’s MCU villain takes control of the multiverse, then Loki would be free again, which means Sylvie would get him back.
2
Scarlet Witch
The Comics Show Why Wanda Could Side With Doctor Doom
Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is one of the most likely characters to team up with Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. For all purposes, Wanda Maximoff is currently ᴅᴇᴀᴅ in the MCU. However, the witch is unlikely to stay that way for long. In Marvel Comics, after Wanda was presumed ᴅᴇᴀᴅ, the Young Avengers set out to find her, discovering that she was alive and well with Doctor Doom.
As one of Marvel’s most powerful magic users, Doctor Doom could have felt the Scarlet Witch’s burst of energy as Mount Wundagore fell. Doom could then be shown to have nursed her back to health and developed a bond with Wanda in Avengers: Doomsday. After losing everything and becoming a villain, the Scarlet Witch would easily side with the one who helped her and showed her kindness after all she had done.
1
Ultron
The MCU Can Put A Dark Twist On An Old Connection
Finally, Ultron would make for an interesting addition to Doctor Doom’s Avengers: Doomsday team. The Russo Brothers, who will direct both upcoming Avengers movies, have said that Tony Stark’s death will play a role in Victor von Doom’s story. Since Ultron was partly created by Iron Man in the MCU, if Doctor Doom is revealed to be a Tony Stark variant or somehow connected to the hero, there could be a way to link him to Ultron.
Ultron will return to the MCU next year in the Vision series. After spending a short time online, the villain decided humans should die. Doctor Doom could convince him to help by revealing his Battleworld plans and allowing Ultron to help him shape how the new world should be ruled. This would give the MCU an evil twist to the Iron Man and JARVIS relationship in Avengers: Doomsday.
