Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith is turning 20 years old this year, but 2025 is packed with other Star Wars anniversaries worth celebrating. An anniversary is always a fun chance to revisit the franchise’s most notable achievements and reflect on how things have changed since they first came out. It feels especially remarkable when a Star Wars project is measured in decades, and now Revenge of the Sith has two under its belt.

While this anniversary is the most exciting with Revenge of the Sith re-releasing in theaters, the other notable Star Wars anniversaries are worth our attention. Some stories are receiving special releases in honor of their anniversary, while others are being recognized for their contribution to the saga. Others are seemingly getting no official attention, making it even more important for fans to be reminded of their place in Star Wars history.

2025 Is A Big Year For Star Wars In So Many Different Ways

In addition to Revenge of the Sith, two of the most important Star Wars movies are celebrating notable anniversaries this year. We also have three anniversaries for Star Wars publishing, two video games, and a general celebration of the animated Star Wars shows:

• The 5th anniversary of Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ proper finale, “The Siege of Mandalore.”
• The 10th anniversary of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
• The 10th anniversary of canon Star Wars comics from Marvel
• The 15th anniversary of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II and its unresolved cliffhanger ending.
• The 20th anniversary of the Revenge of the Sith novelization, which many consider the best Star Wars book.
• The 20th anniversary of Lucasfilm Animation.
• The 30th anniversary of Star Wars: Dark Forces.
• The 45th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back.

Star Wars has already celebrated some of these anniversaries, while other fun releases are still to come later this year.

How Star Wars Is Celebrating Its Other 2025 Anniversaries (So Far)

The first Star Wars anniversaries to be celebrated in 2025 were from the publishing side. Marvel marked 10 years of new Star Wars comics by releasing the aptly-named Star Wars: A New Legacy #1, a collection of stories featuring characters from the ongoing тιтles that ended in 2024. While Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II received no anniversary material, its novelization by Sean Williams was re-released as part of the Essential Legends Collection.

At Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan, the Lucasfilm Animation panel celebrated the company’s 20th anniversary with exclusive content and announcements:

• A special video looking back at all the animated Star Wars TV shows
• Screening of unfinished Clone Wars footage of Boba Fett fighting Anakin Skywalker
• A special 20th anniversary poster combining dozens of Star Wars characters
• The reveal of the upcoming series Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord
• And more!

The series finales of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels also received special screenings at separate panels.

The day before this article was published, George Lucas presented a special 45th anniversary showing of The Empire Strikes Back at the TCM Classic Film Festival. On May 4, 2025, the official Disney Store will begin releasing new exclusive Empire Strikes Back merchandise, including t-shirts, mugs, toys, and more. Revenge of the Sith and The Force Awakens will both have books tying into their anniversaries:
