Love Hurts Streaming Release Date Revealed For Ke Huy Quan’s Action Comedy

The Love Hurts streaming release date has been revealed. The 2025 action-comedy, which was the directorial debut of stunt coordinator Jonathan Eusebio, stars Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan as Marvin Gable, a former ᴀssᴀssin who has turned his life around and become a realtor, only to find his past coming back to haunt him when his former ᴀssociate Rose (Ariana DeBose), whose death he helped to fake, returns around Valentine’s Day. The Love Hurts cast also includes Marshawn Lynch, Cam Gigandet, Daniel Wu, Mustafa Shakir, Lio Tipton, and Sean Astin.

Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Love Hurts is set to make its streaming debut on Peacock on May 9. It was bound to appear on that particular platform because it is a Universal Pictures release and Peacock is operated by NBCUniversal. The streamer features many of the studio’s movies in its library, including Twisters, Jurᴀssic World Dominion, Halloween Ends, and the Best Picture winner Oppenheimer. The newly announced streaming release date will come just over three months after the movie’s theatrical premiere kicked off on February 7.

What This Means For Love Hurts

Streaming Could Revive Its Prospects

Ultimately, the release of the Ke Huy Quan movie turned out to be a disappointment in multiple ways. Love Hurts reviews earned the movie a dismal score of 19% on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, and its commercial performance similarly suffered. The movie cost $18 million, which likely means that its break-even point was somewhere around $45 million. However, it did not even earn its budget back at the box office, only grossing $17.6 million worldwide by the end of its theatrical run.

Audiences liked Love Hurts considerably more than critics, giving the movie a Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter score of 61%.

However, streaming could be where the Ke Huy Quan movie finds its footing. While Love Hurts failed to connect with audiences enough to turn a profit during its theatrical run, its Valentine’s Day setting makes it potential fodder for annual holiday-themed rewatches. If this helps build it up as a cult holiday classic, it could potentially become a major тιтle for Peacock, helping to make up for its theatrical underperformance by supporting the platform with subscriber revenue.

Our Take On The Love Hurts Streaming Release Date

It Could Help The Movie Make A Splash

In addition to Love Hurts potentially becoming a recurring holiday favorite, it has been given a release date that is well-timed to help it make a splash during its streaming debut. It comes during a relatively quiet period for theaters, as the second weekend of Thunderbolts* has prevented there from being any major incoming wide-release тιтles outside of the slasher movie Clown in a Cornfield. With relatively few new theatrical offerings available, audiences may be encouraged to look toward what’s new on streaming that weekend and find the action-comedy at the perfect time.
