Desert Dawn Trailer: Two Twilight Stars Reunite In New Action-Packed Crime Thriller

The trailer for Desert Dawn features a big Twilight reunion. The crime movie is directed by Marty Murray and tells an action-packed story about a small-town sheriff and his deputy who expose lies and corruption in a cartel while investigating a woman’s murder. Desert Dawn features Cam Gigandet, Kellan Lutz, Chad Michael Collins, Texas Battle, Mike Ferguson, Mike Wolfe, Niko Foster, and Helena Haro. The movie is based on a script by Chad Law, Johnny Walters, and Art Camacho. The producers include Elias Axume, Al Bravo, and Jiarui Guo.

Now, Saban Films has revealed the trailer for Desert Dawn. Check it out below:

The trailer opens with a quick look at the movie’s action sequences while Luke Easton (Lutz) vows to protect the U.S. Consтιтution as he becomes a sheriff. Soon after starting the job, he has a tough case to crack as he deals with “a suicide, a murder, and a bag full of money.” This ends up getting Luke and his team involved in an action-packed battle that sees them face up against the cartel. The trailer also reveals that the movie will come out in theaters and on digital on May 16.

What This Means For Desert Dawn

This Is A Twilight Reunion

Cam Gigandet as one of the cops in Desert Dawn

Desert Dawn will mark the on-screen reunion of two Twilight stars: Lutz and Gigandet. Gigandet played James, a sadistic vampire who hunts humans in the first installment in 2008. Lutz had a more consistent presence in the movie series as Emmett Cullen, Edward’s adoptive brother. Both actors debuted on Twilight well over a decade ago at this point, and Desert Dawn is a very different type of film genre-wise. Thus, it will be interesting to see how these stars do in this context.

Unlike their dynamic in the Twilight series, it appears that Lutz and Gigandet’s characters are on the same side, albeit with some tension. With Luke’s partner kidnapped by the cartel after he seemingly refuses to work for them, the trailer reveals several visuals of the two characters working together to rescue her. Although Desert Dawn looks to be a straightforward crime thriller, it could have some underlying twists since there is the added layer of corruption and the cartel.

Our Take On The Desert Dawn Trailer

This Will Be A Good Opportunity For Both Actors

Kenny Corsby (Kellan Lutz) is on the case on FBI: Most Wanted

While the Desert Dawn trailer looks like fairly conventional action fare, it will be interesting to see Lutz and Gigandet on screen together again. Lutz played a key role in FBI: Most Wanted recently, giving him slightly more name recognition. Gigandet has really dedicated time to non-blockbuster action movies, so Desert Dawn will be a good chance for the actor to play to his strengths. If the movie is successful, it could be a strong career push for both of its leads.
