It was discovered by Howard Carter and George Carnarvon in November 1922. Due to the fact that it was the only unplundered pharaoh’s tomb found with richly preserved furnishings, it contained the only mummy preserved in situ in the Valley of the Kings.
Its discovery became a media and scientific sensation. The tomb is located near the city of Luxor.
