The new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie follows the concept of legacy sequels, bringing together old characters and new ones. The I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise returns in 2025 with a new movie, 27 years after its last theatrical release and four years after a failed TV show. The new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie doesn’t ignore the past theatrically released movies, but stars a new group of characters going through a very familiar situation.

The new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel follows a group of five friends involved in a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly car accident. To avoid facing the consequences of their actions, they cover up their involvement and agree to never talk about it again. However, a year later, a mysterious killer dressed as a fisherman begins to stalk them one by one to make them face the truth of their actions – and this leads them to ask the two survivors of the 1997 Southport Mᴀssacre for help, as history is repeating itself, bringing together old and new characters.
