Should Tom Hardy Be James Bond? His Havoc Co-Star Luis Guzmán Weighs In: “Tom Hardy Can Do Anything He Wants To”

Tom Hardy’s Havoc co-star Luis Guzmán has weighed in on whether the British actor should play the next James Bond. Hardy has developed a career as a prominent actor, starring in movies like The Dark Knight Rises, The Revenant, and Venom. Planning for the next actor to play James Bond has been in development since before Daniel Craig’s final Bond outing in 2021’s No Time To Die. Hardy has long been touted as a fan favorite to take over the role, and after working with him on Havoc, Guzmán has given his views on his co-star’s suitability for the role.

While speaking with ScreenRant‘s Owen Danoff during an interview for Havoc, Guzmán was asked about his views on whether Hardy could be the next James Bond, and the actor responded positively. He stated, “Tom Hardy can do anything he wants, that’s how good he is,” before referencing the movie Bronson, in which Hardy plays infamous criminal Charles Bronson, to show Hardy’s range and ability as an actor. He continued by stating that Hardy is a very intense but giving actor. Check out Guzmán’s full comments below:

Tom Hardy can do anything he wants to. That’s how good he is. Have you ever seen the movie Bronson? Check that movie out that he did. You want to see something intense? See that … and when you see that movie, and this movie, and [think about] him being the next James Bond, you’ll understand. He’s done so many great roles, but I promise you, you see Bronson, you’re going to say, “Oh s***, why haven’t I seen this before?” It was my kids that turned me on to that movie–they said, “Yo, you’ve got to watch this Tom Hardy movie.

He’s [a] very intense, but very giving actor. He’s a damn good actor, man. But he’s also a really good person too.

What This Means For Hardy’s Chances Of Playing Bond

The Star Clearly Has Guzmán’s Seal Of Approval

Hardy has long been a fan favorite for the part, and there are many who still believe he would be a strong choice for 007. The casting for the next actor to play James Bond has raged for several years, and many different actors have been in the running, including Hardy, Henry Cavill, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Hardy might be 47 now, but his performance in Havoc shows that he still has the physicality and screen presence required to take on an iconic role like James Bond. Guzmán clearly approves of his co-star’s chances, and believes he could bring a lot to the role.

While there is every chance that Hardy could be a great choice for the role of Bond, it feels likely that Amazon will choose to go with a younger actor in a bid to launch a new era.

Playing a character as iconic as James Bond requires an actor with a certain range and gravitas, and Hardy clearly possesses both in spades. The fact that Guzmán references Bronson is interesting, as this is a movie in which Hardy undergoes something of a metamorphosis, embracing the persona of Bronson in a very surrealist way. This kind of range shows the versatility that Hardy has as an actor, and there is little doubt he would be able to play the role of Bond well, and this should be enough to continue to put him firmly in the running.

Our Take On Hardy’s Bond Chances

It’s Likely Amazon Will Seek A Younger Actor For The Role

While there is every chance that Hardy could be a great choice for the role of Bond, it feels likely that Amazon will choose to go with a younger actor in a bid to launch a new era. There are many different Amazon James Bond movies and TV shows that could be made in the coming years, and finding the right actor to take the franchise forward will be the most important factor to get right. There is an outside chance audiences could see Hardy don the famous James Bond tuxedo, but it feels more likely his time has pᴀssed.
