I Know What You Did Last Summer Trailer: Jennifer Love Hewitt & Freddie Prinze Jr. Must Help New Cast With Brutal Fisherman

A new trailer for I Know What You Did Last Summer reveals a new cast being terrorized by the brutal fisherman. The fourth film in the horror franchise sees Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. reprising their roles of Julie James and Ray Bronson. Despite its shared name with the 1997 installment, it is a legacy sequel rather than a remake. The I Know What You Did Last Summer cast also features Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Lola Tung, Tyrig Withers, and Billy Campbell.

Now, Sony has dropped the I Know What You Did Last Summer trailer. Towards the beginning of the trailer, one of the new characters tries to settle down for a calming bath. Meanwhile, her significant other is downstairs, watching lights mysteriously turn on and off outside their home. He is then stabbed by a harpoon-style weapon before the mysterious ᴀssailant’s ominous hook is revealed. After his death, the scene cuts forward to a group of young Southport residents that wonder if this is karma for what they did last summer, and they meet up with Hewitt and Prinze Jr. for help along the way.

The trailer highlights how the sequel will call upon and distinguish itself from its three predecessors in the horror series. The setting will carry over from the original, taking place in the seaside town of Southport, North Carolina. An image of two gravestones in the trailer recognizes the deaths that have previously occurred in the town. As early images also revealed, 2025’s version of I Know What You Did Last Summer will feature the same iconic hook weapon, which has been an iconic element in the horror franchise.

At the same time, the movie will introduce a series of new characters to go about their horrific journey. The I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise has always featured ensemble casts, and this time will be no exception. Cleverly, the characters will call upon those who have survived Southport’s previous horrors to help them figure out what is happening in their oceanside town. While Prinze Jr. and Hewitt feature in the new trailer, the extent of their appearances remains unclear.

Our Take On The I Know What You Did Last Summer Trailer

The Movie Looks Appealing

Jennifer Love Hewitt I Know What You Did Last Summer looking surprised

There is a charming goofiness to the I Know What You Did Last Summer trailer. Hewitt’s character dramatically says “I just have one question…what did you do last summer?” in a тιтle-drop moment. While this line is melodramatic, it adds a campy flare to the trailer that aligns with the cult classic original movie. This could lead to an appealing legacy sequel when I Know What You Did Last Summer releases on July 18.
