Jason Statham’s New Action Thriller Hits Crucial Milestone At The Global Box Office After Nearly One Month In Theaters

Jason Statham remains a major figure in action cinema, though his latest movie is seeing middling results. Statham’s name is nearly synonymous with action movies and the tough, gritty, and often violent characters he plays within them. The English actor’s array of action movies includes the Transporter series, which solidified his status as an action star, followed by Crank, The Mechanic movies, The Meg movies, The Expendables series, and the Fast & Furious franchise, including its Hobbs & Shaw spinoff.

Statham’s output of standalone action thrillers also hasn’t slowed down in recent years, including Wrath of Man in 2021 and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre in 2023, both directed by Guy Ritchie. The actor originally collaborated with the filmmaker on Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in 1998 and Snatch in 2000, which were both box office successes that helped catapult Statham to stardom. In recent years, Statham has starred in The Beekeeper, directed by David Ayer, which was a box office success, so the two reunited on a new action thriller.

A Working Man Hits A Crucial Milestone At The Global Box Office

Jason Statham’s Action Thriller Has Been In Theaters For Nearly A Month

A Working Man has hit a crucial milestone at the global box office after nearly one month in theaters. Directed by David Ayer, who co-wrote the script with Sylvester Stallone based on the 2014 novel Levon’s Trade, the new action thriller stars Jason Statham as an ex-marine turned construction worker who must revive his combat skills to rescue his boss’ kidnapped daughter and expose a conspiracy involving corrupt government officials and human trafficking. A Working Man‘s cast also includes Jason Flemyng, Merab Ninidze, Maximilian Osinski, Michael Peña, and David Harbour.

Now, per The Numbers, A Working Man has reached $86 million at the global box office. This means that, with a $40 million budget, the movie is getting into break-even territory. Currently, its total cume breaks down to $35 million domestically and $51 million internationally.

What A Working Man’s Box Office Milestone Means For The Movie

It’s Getting Into Break-Even Territory

Since a movie generally needs to make over two times its production budget to turn a profit, factoring in marketing and other costs, A Working Man‘s latest box office milestone means that it’s now firmly in break-even territory. While it’s certainly better than reporting a loss, it is a significant decrease from Jason Statham and David Ayer’s last collaboration, The Beekeeper, which was a much bigger box office success that made $153 million against its $40 million budget. Still, even with A Working Man‘s modest returns, Statham should remain a reliable box office presence worldwide.
