AmenH๏τep III along with his grandson King Tut are hablogroup R1b. Haplogroup R1b is a paternal lineage found in some parts of Africa, including Central Africa: The R1b2 clade is common in the Sahel, a region that stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea, and in countries such as Cameroon, Chad, Guinea, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal. In Cameroon, the R1b1* paragroup, also known as haplogroup 117, can be found in up to 95% of populations.
According to Prof. Christian Meyer and Dr. Christian Timmann, new studies show King Tut died from sickle-cell disease. Sickle cell disease is a rare genetic blood disorder most common in Black Africans and people of African descent.
