Ready Or Not 2 Confirms Brilliant тιтle And Adds Sarah Michelle Gellar & Elijah Wood To Cast As Filming Begins

As Ready Or Not 2

begins filming, several new faces have been added to the cast, including Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood. The upcoming sequel will see the return of original directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette and original star Samara Weaving, who played final girl Grace in 2019’s Ready or Not. Though the first movie was a hit critically and commercially, Ready or Not 2 development was slow-going for several years, with confirmation that the movie was happening not arriving until October of last year.

Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, the movie, officially тιтled Ready or Not: Here I Come, has now officially begun filming in Toronto. The news comes with the casting of Gellar and Wood, though their roles are currently under wraps. Also joining the cast are Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, and David Cronenberg. Radio Silence said in a statement:

We’re thrilled to be returning to the world of Ready or Not with Samara, Brett, Avery and Andrew, and so excited to work with this immensely talented cast and the incredible artists across every department joining the Ready or Not family.

Searchlight Pictures shared a new post on X to commemorate the start of filming, with a familiar song playing in the background as a hand lays out cards with the names of the new and returning cast members:

What This Means For Ready Or Not 2

Gellar & Wood Come With Horror Experience

Grace holds up a card that says Hide and Seek in Ready or Not

Both Gellar and Wood come with a number of impressive тιтles under their belts, including many in the horror genre. Gellar, of course, is best known for starring in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but she also appeared in horror movies like I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Scream 2 (1997), and The Grudge (2004). Wood, on the other hand, remains best known for playing Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but is also no stranger to horror, having appeared in The Faculty (1998), Come to Daddy (2019), and The Monkey (2025).

Ready or Not 2 will mark the first collaboration for both Gellar and Wood with directors Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin, but the same can’t be said for the rest of the sequel’s cast. In addition to the original 2019 film, Weaving also recently appeared in the cast of Scream 6 (2023), with Ready or Not 2 now set to mark her third collaboration with the filmmakers. Other cast members like Kathryn Newton and Durand also recently worked with Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin on Abigail (2024).

Abigail enjoys 83% scores from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, while Ready or Not has scores of 89% and 78% respectively.

Our Take On The Ready Or Not 2 Update

The Sequel Just Became Even More Exciting

Ready or Not was a surprise hit in 2019, featuring a unique combination of horror and dark humor, in addition to lots of blood. The first film wrapped up the story in a satisfying way, raising questions about what the sequel will be about, but the new cast additions are reason alone to be excited about the in-production follow-up. Gellar and Wood’s previous projects suggest they will fit in well in the franchise and feel right at home with the unique horror tone Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin have become known for.

Though Abigail failed to make much of a mark at the box office, both Newton and Durand were well-cast in that project, and it will be exciting to see them sharing the screen with Gellar and Wood in Ready or Not 2. With production now underway, it hopefully won’t be long before an official look at the new and returning cast members is revealed.
