While Aquaman eventually got more silly in the DC Extended Universe, he was also quite serious at first. Therefore, when Momoa was cast in 2023’s Fast X, many people understandably believed he would be playing an ultra-serious, imposing villain. Despite wanting revenge against Dom and his crew, Momoa’s Fast X character, Dante, is super silly. Throughout his career, Momoa has starred in many movies that have been huge hits at the box office, such as Aquaman, Dune, Fast X, and now A Minecraft Movie. Therefore, he is clearly choosing roles that are part of films that will attract huge audiences.

After A Minecraft Movie, it doesn’t seem like Momoa’s box office luck will run out anytime soon. While a sequel to A Minecraft Movie has not been officially confirmed, it is very likely, and it’s possible that Momoa will return.
