“Time Flies”: Hayden Christensen Reflects On Revenge Of The Sith Ahead Of 20th Anniversary Re-Release

In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant at Star Wars Celebration 2025, Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen reflected upon the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and his experience with Star Wars over the years. There have been a host of thrilling Star Wars Celebration 2025 panels, and there was particular excitement about Christensen’s appearances. As many had hoped, the Ahsoka panel confirmed that Anakin is returning in Ahsoka season 2. However, Christensen is looking back as much as he is looking forward this weekend.

In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan at Star Wars Celebration 2025, Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen shared his feelings about the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith and his time in Star Wars so far. Christensen said:

“Yeah, time flies. It’s just been really nice to sort of get to see the love that people have for the prequels now, and especially episode three. We all really gave it our all and we wanted to make the best films possible and see how those films now continue to live on and are sort of pᴀssed down from generation to generation. And even though it makes me feel old, it’s a really beautiful thing.”

It’s wonderful to hear Christensen speaking about his time in Star Wars so fondly, particularly because his reference to people loving the prequels “now” is a reminder that it hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Christensen or for Revenge of the Sith.

What Hayden Christensen’s Comments Mean For Star Wars

Revenge Of The Sith—And Christensen Himself—Are Finally Being Shown The Love They Deserve

Revenge of the Sith is now largely considered one of Star Wars’ best movies, and Hayden Christensen is easily now one of the most beloved actors in Star Wars movies and TV shows, but that hasn’t always been true. On the contrary, both Revenge of the Sith and Christensen were met with harsh criticism when the movie was first released. Even years later, in fact, Christensen and Revenge of the Sith were heavily criticized. Thankfully, that has changed considerably in recent years.

The palpable excitement surrounding Christensen’s appearances at Star Wars Celebration 2025 is more than enough proof that Christensen is now incredibly beloved in Star Wars. Likewise, Revenge of the Sith’s 20th anniversary is already being celebrated, with many planning to attend the movie’s theatrical re-release, which begins just next week. To be clear, both Christensen and Revenge of the Sith always deserved this love and recognition, but it’s wonderful to see it come back around now all the same.

Our Take On Hayden Christensen’s Comments

Time Really Has Flown

Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker falls to the dark side and is christened Darth Vader, and he looks up at Palpatine in agony

In addition to Christensen’s comments reflecting how public opinion of Revenge of the Sith has shifted with time, his point about time flying is well taken. It’s hard to believe that 20 years have now pᴀssed since the conclusion of the prequel trilogy, particularly considering how much has changed in the franchise since then. After all, within these last two decades, George Lucas sold Star Wars, bringing about an entirely new era with Disney Star Wars and numerous movies and shows along with it.

That also only makes it feel all the more meaningful that Christensen is returning to Star Wars once again in Ahsoka season 2. Even with so many years pᴀssing, Christensen remains dedicated to Star Wars and especially to Anakin as a character, and that is something truly special. Hayden Christensen’s comments at Star Wars Celebration 2025 really do perfectly capture the feelings surrounding the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
