Jabba The Hutt’s Son Confirmed: The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie Footage Description From Star Wars Celebration

Just over a year before the release of Star Wars’ next movie, brand-new footage from The Mandalorian and Grogu has been shown exclusively to audiences at Star Wars Celebration 2025. The Mandalorian and Grogu‘s story is set to pick up from the events in The Mandalorian season 3’s ending, following Din Djarin and Grogu as they fight the Imperial Remnant on behalf of the New Republic rangers. One year after the movie’s announcement, exclusive footage has finally been shown.

The footage may not have been released online, but ScreenRant was on hand. Here’s an account from our own Molly Brizzell of what she saw. The clip begins inside an Imperial walker, with Imperials engaging in battle and a siren blaring in the background. Din Djarin breaks in, battling the troopers. The walker is then shown blowing up, with Din and Grogu flying away. Sigourney Weaver’s character is also shown, as is, shockingly, Jabba the Hutt’s son, Rotta. The clips also include the Razor Crest, Din Djarin walking with Zeb Orrelios, and Grogu using the Force.

What These Clips Mean For The Mandalorian And Grogu

Although There Weren’t Major Story Details, These Clips Are Significant

Grogu Holding Out His Arms in The Mandalorian

The clips shown at Star Wars Celebration didn’t reveal too much more about The Mandalorian and Grogu, but what they did show is thrilling. For one, Grogu using the Force in the movie has fascinating implications, not only for his own arc but also for Star Wars moving forward. That is, The Book of Boba Fett saw Grogu very clearly walking away from the path of a Jedi. Of course, that doesn’t have to mean Grogu abandoning the Force—the Jedi don’t own the Force—but it will be interesting to see what Grogu’s relationship to the Force is now.

It’s also clear that, just as The Mandalorian season 3 suggested, Din Djarin will be working with the New Republic in this new era of the Star Wars timeline. This will be particularly interesting following all that transpired in Ahsoka season 1, which suggests that the Imperial Remnants absolutely will be rising up. This could put Din Djarin more in line with the other heroes of Star Wars than ever.

Our Take On The Mandalorian And Grogu’s New Clips

This Movie Is Shaping Up To Be A Truly Thrilling Addition To Star Wars

Even with ScreenRant on the ground at Star Wars Celebration 2025, we don’t have all the answers—far from it. Like so many others, we are anxiously awaiting any additional information on The Mandalorian and Grogu, including a trailer. Based on all that has been shown and discussed so far, though, The Mandalorian and Grogu is primed to be a brilliant addition to the franchise.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will be breaking brand-new ground in Star Wars, as it will take these characters and this story from the small screen to the big screen. Luckily, this leap is being made with some of the most beloved characters in the franchise, which makes success feel particularly likely. While we remain in the dark about many of the details for The Mandalorian and Grogu, these brand-new clips revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2025 have us more excited than ever about this new Star Wars movie.
