First Image Of Pedro Pascal Unmasked In The Mandalorian & Grogu

Star Wars Celebration is here, featuring the first image of Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian & Grogu movie…where he’s notably unmasked. Currently, plot details about the first Star Wars movie since The Rise of Skywalker are somewhat scarce. However, this first image suggests Din Djarin may finally be breaking his clan’s creed for good.

Screen Rant is in attendance this year at Star Wars Celebration Japan, including the first panel of the event covering all things Mandalorian & Grogu (as well as some surprises involving the next movie, Star Wars: Starfighter). It was also here that Lucasfilm revealed the first images from the set of next year’s Star Wars movie, including Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin with his helmet removed:

This is a very exciting image, one that could have some key story implications now that Din Djarin and his adopted son Grogu are working with the New Republic to hunt down Imperial warlords, as was set up in The Mandalorian season 3.

Is Din Djarin Breaking His Creed?

It Would Certainly Fit With The End of The Mandalorian Season 3

On the one hand, this could certainly just be promotional material, confirming that Pedro Pascal did indeed suit up to play Din Djarin in the upcoming Star Wars movie rather than just doing ADR voice work. However, it could also be a sign pointing to a status quo shift for Din Djarin, one that sees him being less strict about the Mandalorian creed he grew up with The Children of the Watch, specifically the rule that forbids the removal of one’s helmet when others are present. However, The Mandalorian season 3 did suggest that this part of “The Way” might be coming to an end.

When the time came to unite all Mandalorians to reclaim their lost homeworld of Mandalore in The Mandalorian season 3, Bo-Katan Kryze was accepted as a leader by The Watch’s Armorer, even though she didn’t adhere to the creed and freely removed her helmet. Keeping that in mind, perhaps Din Djarin will be following suit in The Mandalorian & Grogu, and we might see more of Pedro Pascal’s face in the upcoming film. After all, it’s not as if it hasn’t happened before in the Disney+ series.

Our Take On A Helmetless Din Djarin

It Really Was Inevitable

Seeing more of Pedro Pascal’s face and less helmet always felt like an inevitability. After all, the Hollywood star has only grown more popular, and his star power is definitely something Disney and Lucasfilm undoubtedly want to bank on. Likewise, that desire is probably even more true now that Din Djarin and his adopted son are getting their own feature film, heralding the entire Star Wars franchise’s return to the big screen.

Furthermore, Djarin’s face was shown in the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, so there is somewhat of a precedent. However, The Book of Boba Fett and Mandalorian season 3 saw Din working to redeem himself for his previous transgression of removing said helmet. Perhaps the dawn of a new era for Mandalore means all Mandalorians are now able to show their faces if they wish? Time will tell as we get closer to The Mandalorian & Grogu’s release.

The Mandalorian & Grogu releases in theaters on May 22nd, 2026.
