Jamie Lee Curtis Starring & Producing New Psychological Horror Movie With Severance Actor In Lead Role

Jamie Lee Curtis is still inseparable from the horror genre. The actress made her film debut and rose to fame for her role as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter’s iconic 1978 slasher, Halloween. A mᴀssive critical and commercial success, the movie established Curtis as a scream queen and paved the way for leading roles in the horror films The Fog, Prom Night, and Terror Train, which were all released in 1980, followed by Roadgames in 1981. She reprised the role of Laurie Strode for six Halloween sequels, ultimately wrapping up the character’s arc in director David Gordon Green’s reboot trilogy.

In recent years, Curtis has also started producing projects, many of which she also stars in, via her Comet Pictures label. Some of her first executive producer credits were on David Gordon Green’s Halloween reboot trilogy, which includes 2018’s Halloween, 2021’s Halloween Kills, and 2022’s Halloween Ends. Curtis also produces and stars in the Prime Video series, The Sticky, and the upcoming Freakier Friday, a sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday. Now, Curtis has found a new horror film to star in and produce.

Jamie Lee Curtis Is Starring In & Producing Sender

A Severance Star Is Set For The Lead Role

Jamie Lee Curtis is starring in and producing Sender, with a Severance star set for the lead role. The upcoming horror movie marks the directorial debut of Russell Goldman, which was adapted from his 2022 short film Return to Sender into a 2023 Black List script, an annual compilation of the best unproduced screenplays. The film centers on a woman who falls victim to a deeply unsettling e-commerce package delivery scam, one so personal that she becomes determined to uncover the idenтιтy of the mysterious sender.

Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Severance actor Britt Lower will star in Sender in the lead role. David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil) and Anna Baryshnikov (Love Lies Bleeding) will also star. Jamie Lee Curtis, who also produces via her Comet Pictures label, shared the following statement:

I am so proud to be a part of Russell’s first movie, the first of many. The little seed that Comet Pictures planted has now grown into a feature filled with talented artists surrounding a new and exciting filmmaker.

Our Take On Britt Lower Starring In Sender

The Severance Star Deserves More Opportunities

Britt Lower as Helly looking nervous standing in the elevator in Severance's season 1 finale

Britt Lower has received rave reviews for her dual roles as Helly R and Helena Eagan in Severance, Apple TV’s hit series that just finished its second season and was renewed for a third. In turn, Lower deserves to be awarded with more opportunities. Severance is very much a psychological thriller, so Sender, described as a psychological horror film, seems perfectly suited for expanding her film career in a similar sandbox.
